I got tempted by a low price for these sticks on overclockers and since I've been using succesfully G-Skill in the past i thought why not.

The sticks got delived yesterday, I put the in my system and since then the problems started.

The system has been working about month and a half without a single BSOD and as soon as I put these sticks in it would not post and BSOD every try. I have tried X.M.P. profile and also manually set all to the required specifications.

I've tried lower speeds and higher latencies. It would BSOD every time I try to post.

I decided to swithc back to my old and tested sticks and to my huge upset the system continued to BSOD.

After 3 hours of testing I ended up reinstalling the system on old sticks and it works as a dream again.

I've been building PCs for a while and I must admit this is a first time I have a situation like this. Any thoughts?

I am assuming the sticks are faulty, already RMAed them, but maybe there is anything else i should know?

might hep us to help you if we had all the specs of ur rig. And exactly what you tried to set them at in bios. 4 example if you tried running them at stock speeds. Just because the ram can run at xxxx speed doesnt mean ur mobo can run at xxxx speed. You need to check the compatibility of the ram in question to ur mobo's ram compatibility. And not saying if its not listed it wont work but its a starting point. Also did you try setting the ram to say 1600MHz speeds? and if so did they do the same as at the higher 2133??

Specs of my rig are in my profile. MB is capable of running at the desired speeds (2133 9-11-9-28) and the sticks are designed for SB. There should not be any compatibility issue. My Old sticks are G-Skill Trident 2000 9-9-9-28 designed for P55 platforms and they work flawlessly, the only down point is that XMP runs them as 1866 instead of 2000 but that's due to the SB and it is perfectly normal.

Back to the faulty sticks...I tried to run them at 2133, 1600 and default Bios settings. i also tried with recommended voltage and also 0.05 higher (1.65v imstead of 1.6).

They simply did not post, except when I tried to reinstall fresh system with new sticks, but then it went to the "logging your system for the first time" screen and then BSODed. I tried multiple times as well.

What bugs me the most is why did the system did not post when I put my old sticks back.

that is a weird one 4 sure did you reseat them prior to ur re-install?? just a wild stab lol. Sry didnt think about looking in ur profile for rig info. Might wanna make a sig with it in so questions like these are easier to help with. I goggled ur setup and got back a link to this post lol. So no help out there from google land. But I'm with ya there its most likely a bad set of ram. But the weird part still eludes me. Is why it would post after putting back ur old ram.

Yea mate I've reseated them and also tried 1-3 then 2-4 slot setup. Nothing helped. I also researched google and haven't found anything like this... I did find ironically a very positive review of the sticks lol:). The power of google failed so i came here looking for wise from people with more experience:D. I don't mind getting the replacement for the sticks but surely if it is to happen again I dont wanna waste half a day to reinstall my system again.

It takes me about 1h to get the windows installed and updated, with the fibre optic net I use... the problem is the other stuff...including all my working software with getting the licences synchronization with the main office...I won't even mention steam and others...yea half a day if lucky:).

Quality but true

Well, sticks RMAed to Overclockers....I have heard some baad stories about their service..we shall see in 5 to 7 working days...

I received my sticks back in the post and apparently they are not faulty. When I was sending my RMA request I was asked to specify my system exactly and descripe the fault. i spent blooming 30 minutes to make sure that they have all the details.

The guy had absolutely no idea about any of this. Apparently he did not even have a sandy bridge machine to test SB designed sticks.

At the end of the day I guess I am forced to take a hit for £90 (70 for completely useless sticks+20 for bizzare testing). Conclusion is simple, THERE IS NO WAY OVERCLOCKERS WILL GET A SINGLE POUND FROM ME ANYMORE and I advice everyone to stay away from them.

Damn that's bad luck, hope they aren't the only place to have the 580 lightning in stock by mid April, they're the only place showing pre orders.

Tried an RMA with G Skill rather than Overclockers?

I am at work mate, so I wasnt able to do anything besides calling the technical support and file the RMA complaint. I will hopefully find time on the lunch break tomorrow. My advice, stay away from overclockers, you really get to know the company when something goes wrong and I just experienced that. Besides, I am 100% sure if overclockers will have 580 lightning other retailed will as well so nothing to worry about.

I have 2 sets of the 2x2GB 2133 Ram and they work great. Sucks mate

maybe its the memory slots themselves, i had that issue with 2 Gigabyte UD boards b4 the Asus one i got now, both had dodgy memory slots.

I would say though if they are Gskill Ram you should be dealing with them as they would be under Manufacturer Warranty, all the store's are obliged to do is handle the warranty for you or offer a refund if it's proven they were faulty out of the box, elsewise would just be sending them off to G-Skill anyway. Unless they add there own warranty ontop.

Something else, did you try swapping the memory around in the slots?

i thought my sticks were bad off the bat on my Asus P8P67 board i have now, video wouldn't turn on swapped the sticks around in the slots and it worked, now they work in any slot. go figure.

mind you i was swapping temorarily using totally different ram prior to installing the new ones so maybe the BIOS got confused. I dunno
