Yup, read it yesterday... 2.8GHz is nice but.... whats the difference between the FX57 and an FX55 with a 200MHz OC? Is it not the same memory controller as well?

I guess if you want the best then people will pay the premium, its not as bad as the price on the 4800+ X2 - that is rediculous.

Nice CPU....

But if I upgrade yet again so soon, my wife will kick me out

Its a lovely cpu I'm sure but is it really worth the extra cash over the others?

Are any of the FX processors ever really worth the extra cash when they are released?

If you want the fastest and have a spare shedload of cash then it cant be beaten, but i can think of quite a few different ways of spending £600 (my LS was cheaper than that lol and i can justify the cost of the LS far more than the extra speed of the FX)

Yep FX57 is just a SD FX55 with 14x multiplier as standard.

I would expect it to overclock higher than FX55 - like phil said, it is really worth the extra? Of course I am just saying that coz I got me an FX55 SD :D

It will probably help drop the price of the other processors in the family and I guess it spells the end for FX55 (A64 4200??).

Well it is a tricky one I have just sold one Fx I could use the cash to buy a 4400 x 2 or wait a few more weeks sell my other 55 and buy a new 57??? what to do?? but then again new gen gcards are comming too do i wait buy a 7800 or two or do i get a new mobo and go crossfire

I was me (and I am) I would go for the FX55 San Diego before they run out and then get me some 7800's......

Then overclock the tits of all of it and bench like there's no tomorrow.

I am staying away from dual core until I see some overclock results and see if anyone blows up there current MOBO with the extra power draw the 4800 brings with it.

It's been proven that dual core is no match for FX in 3d games and phot editiing but is a killer when encoding is added into the equation.

:D

Me niether mate - but Dazboots is getting one with a pair of 7800's so I think it's all getting a bit exciting just to see.

Cheers
