right i was sitting looking at aria website when all of a sudden the power cuts out on my rig.

the power led is light up on the board when i try the power button again the fans nudge a bit but nothing no life what so ever i have thought of everthing i can and still nothing i have removed all compnents one by one. any idea guys i have had this board and cpu less than a week .

temps were all fine on the cpu and board i was overclocked to 4.5 with 2.8 volts
 
tried that first thing i did .weird things was maybe monday the asus sensor monitor gave a warnig the board had reached 128c so i switched off then back on again it it was cool untill 2 hours ago .

as i said only had this board and cpu less than week bacause my 1156 board and cpu went the same sort of way 6 hours after i put my noctue d14 on that i got last week funy how it has happend again .
 
well bro not sure what to say without having my hands on it kinda hard but lets backtrack a bit. This all started when you installed the D-14 correct. Then go back to square one with that and see if maybe something went wrong with its installion alll the way back to installing the backplate. As I just installed my backplate on my 1155 board I know there are specific steps to take like removing the rubberized backing only in the middle which is only for LGA775 cpus. And making sure the cutouts on the backplate align properly with the boards backplate which remains on.
 
Yeah I brought up the rubber part before. It's incredibly important to get it right tbh. Otherwise you have metal on the back of your board shorting things out.

Edit. Yes it appears it was. So, it absolutely must be the cooler mounting or a problem with his mains.
 
by mains you mean his house current??? I was thinking along those lines as well but the psu SHOULD prevent it from frying the computer I would think
 
yea guys the the cooler was on the right way you remove the middle rubber bit for the 1156/1155 boards and only put on for the 775 it's not psu checked that works fine the board is getting power because the power led is light up on the board.

would the llc or phase control have anything to do with it
 
Definietly nothing to do with motherboard settings then, strange though that it has happened with two motherboards in just over a week. Have you tried a different socket in your house I was thinking what AlienALX said, could be a problem with your mains.

there few other computers in the house too there fine were my computer is i have it plgged into a surge procetor.
 
Right mate, if I gave my guess its something causing the PSU to auto shut off, probably an unconnected wire or a dodgy connection to the motherboard or something.

For me the problem was the case. At the back of the case is a small control panel, and you connected the stock fans' LED cables to it, and the case lighting switch. Anyway, I did that all perfectly, but when I powered on, I'd get a click sound, fans would whir a little bit, then it would all stop. I isolated the problem as the case lighting control panel. After I disconnected the case control panel from the PSU, it all started up fine.

In fact the issue was that the front door panel lighting is connected to the control panel via a cable, and on the Colossus they hadn't plugged the cable into the door! Plugging it in fixed all the issues.

So I guess my main advice is-first check there are no disconnected cables in your case, and if they are disconnected, then they are also disconnected from the PSU (if its intentional). Then check the CPU power plugs are in properly (mine weren't actually properly in before I checked them, thank god I did

If its still not working, then just plug in the Motherboard (24pin), the CPU (8pin I think), and the GPU power cables into the respective components and PSU. Disconnect everything else from the power supply, even the case fans or whatever, the only thing that needs to be running/installed is the CPU, CPU Cooler (plug fan cables into mobo), RAM, Graphics Card, all on the mobo. Should work then.

I thought it was the power surge thing too, but turns out its just an auto-off feature the PSU itself has
