Fractal R4 black/red build

Run the frontpannel conectors underneath the mobo, this will clean up the long cables in the bottom.

Now that I have the window and can see everything clearly, I am thinking exactly the same thing! I will try and route those cables underneath or along the bottom of the MB. :)

Looking very nice, was thinking of using the same board and the h80i in my new rig, but from your pics it looks like the tubing runs across the nearest ram slot. Does it get in the way at all or is it just the angle of the pic?

The tubing on the H80i does come close to the RAM slot nearest the CPU, but it doesn't block it off at all. For example, my Dominator memory sticks could be moved closer to the CPU without causing any issues, there is enough clearance.

Thanks for the info, looks like I know what I'm going with then, just hope I can get it looking as tidy as yours.

Define R4 Maximus V Formula Corsair H100i

Here is Corsair H100i inside a Fractal Design R4 paired with a Maximus V Formula and a 3770K. I tried to provided a close up look as accurate as possible. Feedback welcome. Hope you guys like it.

I don't know if the temperature is not the right one. I have the H100i fans pushing air out and the rear as an intake. My only issue is the whining noise and don't know if its the radiator or the fans. I will reserve them and make them as a intake.

Taskforce, love the subtle lighting :)

A little better cable management + some sleeved extensions and it'll be looking pretty awesome!

Thanks BCMods. Now am debating between keeping the R4 or the 600T Silver. I want a whole side window panel. What u do you think? I've been searching for a side panel, but I can only find for 600T. In regards to cable management, you mean thr wires from the lighting switch?

Should I keep the blue or change it for a red? Should I buy the corsair sp120 fan or keep the one that came with it? Also, should I use it as exhaust or intake?

I apologize for all my questions, but am newbie to all this modding and stuff? Thanks everyone jn advanced.

I think you should change the fans to SP120s. But how the hell do you have all that room for for your cpu 8pin connector? I could barely fit my 8pin in. I use my fans as exhaust like you have in your case my good sir. :)

I am very concerned with the rear intake-fan.
You dont want an intake in the upper part of your case. Heat rises and u dont want anything to block/prevent/degrade your case ability to dissepate heat the natural way..
Other reasons - It is not filtered, and it is higly likely that it causes turbulant air in the area - not enabling the H100i to perform at its best.
It even could be the reason for that annoying sound - tho i dont really think this is the case.
Try to disconnect this fan and see what that does for the sound. Try to use it as an exhaust as it was ment to be. Try to remove it all together.
Try to disconnect one of the cooler-fans at a time to trubleshoot sound-issue, try to disconnect both, And finally try to disconnect all fans in the entire system to see if the sound comes from the pump/anywhere else in the cooling-system.

EDIT:
I suddenly realised that apologies were in order to Toon for cluttering your thread. Surely these last few posts should have been moved to the Fractal Club or a new personal thread seeing that it is moving fast away from OP´s - topic?

Sweet build man! I just ordered an r4 and an h80i. I know corsair suggests that you mount the fans+rad in the back (using it as an intake). Would most of you guys recommend using the back as an exaust, drawing air from inside the case and pushing it through the rad and the back? My goal is to go as quiet as possible. I would like to leave the covers on the top.

all intake fans should have a dust filter, using the 80i in the back as an intake will cause a huge buildup of dust in the rads fins and worsen performance. typically, intakes are filtered in the front and bottom, and exhausts are top and back, after all, heat rises.

on the flip side, fans drawing in will generally produce less audible external noise (only marginally)

if your case has good air intake (positive internal pressure, basically more intake fans, or just more air pushed in, than out) then the rad as an exhaust will be more than adequate.
