Fractal R3 problem

Hi,

Building a rig for a friend, basically all my old components in a new Fractal R3.

Got the case a few days ago and I'm having a few issues with the door.

One of the rivets on the top hasnt been riveted properly and so an edge is sticking out. This has meant the door doesnt go on properly. It catches on it when putting on, gets caught while taking it off, and makes the door stick out when the side panel is on.

Thats what the issue is, I know it doesnt look that bad, but it is causing significant problems.

Am I ok to get this rivet out? Dont really want to RMA the case as that would mean taking out the system inside just for 1 rivet...

Thanks

Determine what this rivet is secured to and how the rest of this component is secured. It is probably holding the 5.25 drive bay. If you remove it it could cause some problems with the 5.25 drive bay and would probably cause a lot of sound from the vibration.

I would suggest replacing the rivet with a new one. The pop rivets are easy to replace and are easily found at the hardware store.

It doesnt attach to the 5.25 cage. It doesnt actually seem to attach to anything tbh. Whats the best way to get it out though? a drill?

I will take a look at my R3 when I get home, it must attach to something. They are easily drilled out, be very careful to only drill the head. Take as much of the head off as you can and then use a punch and hammer to knock the rivet out. You do not want to make the hole in the case any bigger or you could run into problems when trying to secure a new rivet.

If you take a drill to it, just match the size of that small indent on the rivet to a drill bit size. Then drill. It'll come right out.
