Howdy all . So I'm ready to order parts for a much delayed build . Truth is I bought the case over a year ago . On that subject the case is a lian li full tower that I pulled the front hdd x 7 cage out of . I'll be painting the frame white and modding some spots for an h100 and other additional cooling . I've budgeted down the build a bit where possible and allocated more funds where I thott most beneficial . This is primarily a gaming rig that I will add a custom water loop to in the comming year . All that being said , heres a list of parts for your consideration . I'd appreciate all thotts but if your offering your pic for another part plz make it similar in price . Thanx in advance all :)

are you going to SLI your 680?

also get the SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series for $30 more

i'd drop to a gtx670, and save some money. there is hardly any difference between them... other than that its looking good mate
 
I agree with both "I don't know" and CPMFW, go for the 840 PRO-just a waaaaaay better SSD for just a little more. And the performance difference between the GTX 680 and the GTX 670 is just too small to justify the huge price difference.
 
Thanx all .. wasnt sure on the 670 vs 680 thing . I was thinking the extra vram would be good down the road as " yes " Im planning on going sli . I'll take a look at the SAMSUNG 840 . I'm definately fuzzy on ssd's . I got moderator slapped for not listing all the parts in the build so allow me to atone . I'll be getting an optical drive ( not yet determined ) A fancontroller . and some corsair sp's for the h-100 .Any thotts on which 670 or anything very much appreciated and Ill start taking pics of the mod and build .

It wasn't a slap, more like a push. I edited your first post. Now people can see your parts without having to follow the links.
 
Personally i'd go for a 7950. Drop the PSU and get a smaller one, save a lil bit of money and get your samsung ssd and other bits that you need.
 
Optical drives are really cheap and theres not much difference between brands. In the end its up to you to decide whether you want just a dvd burner or if you want to watch blue rays on your computer. Personally I just went with a plain old Samsung DVD-RW. All the DVD-RW were the exact same price....
 
So is an 860 i overkill for a sli x 2 rig ?? As far as the modding goes ( to reiterate and expand on an previous post ) I've dismantled the case , removed the front hdd x 7 cage , I'm cutting out 3 of the 5 optical drive bays to accept an additional 140mm intake fan and down the road a 140mm x 3 rad will be installed there . Im cutting in exhaust locations in the roof for the h-100i or the as of yet not fully reviewed kraken 60 ( poke poke ) Toying with the idea of adding intakes on the afor mentioned cooler on the back panel of the case and partitioning it off in acrylic . Last of all I'll be painting the frame white and going with a full custom waterloop come summer .. Ty again all for the 101 and as always all thotts very much appreciated

Well even a 760i would be more than enough for two GTX 670s and a 3570K. I'm running a 2600K 4,7GHz 1,35V and two EVGA GTX 670 FTW overclocked to 1245 on the core aswell. Running prime and Unigine Heaven draws 596W from the wall.
 
your RAM selection is strange.. 2666 @ 1.65v? why not a 2133 @ 1.5volt?
ivey has a good IMC, but like the X79 most are shakey for top speed. and
leaving the high voltage.. start 1.5 and overclock to 1.65v.
 
Thanx airdeano I'll likely save money on that as well and in regaurds to the psu Ping I'll pull up a psu calculator somewhere and check that .. Sounds like your right . My only concern is when I add the pump for the custom loop , but if I can save money by going with the 760i then its a win win .. ty all

Don't think you need to be concerned regarding adding a pump because I forgot to mention that the 596W power draw also includes a D5 pump running at 4,5/5 speed and is pushing through a CPU block, two GPU blocks and three radiators =)
 
the Galaxy GTX 670 has the best average egg per customer review of the three surprisingly as I've not heard much about the company . apparently its a GTX 670 on a GTX680 pcb . Not sure that counts for anything
