First time build. Advice please.

I have decided on the 550W, but i still aint sure bout the gfx card. my ATI choice wasnt on the link given, which is 512mb and DDR3, whereas they only showed the 512 DDR4's, which were FASTER than the Nvidia by quite a way. This makes me suspect that my ATI choice would be barely slower, if at all, and i am just not sure if that 25 quid id worth it for such a miniscule performance hop.

Ide get the 1950pro.. there will be hardly and performance diff at all between DDR3 and DDR4.. And the 1950 will play all the games u want it for.. then for your birthday or w/e you could get a new GFX card..

Thankyou VERY much pat, that means i am finally decided on what to get. The total cost is £540-ish. Thats with the 1950 pro, and the 550w PSU. So, that means a tenner to spend... but on what? better RAM, different case?

Lets see your reccomendations!

If i got another 12cm fan for that, would it be fine regarding cooling?

Which one? with a fan on the side panel they would be fine yes. I dont know if they have a slot precut for one. but when u add the window, you can drill four holes for a 120mm fan on the side panel.

well, i like the coolermaster best. I think i would slap an antec 120mil in the front or back, then an antec tricool with blue LEDS in the side. then get meself some blue cathodes.

But wouldn't the vents on the side get in the way?

No. It will get enough airflow through it, but, with it being a cheaper case, could probably do with a fan replacement on the front, something abit more powerful... With a fan on the side it would be fine.

P.S. imo that case you linked to looks tacky. Would look better if you got a nice clean case to start with and modded it yourself. I prefer the gigabyte as its aluminium, But that personal preference.. get w/e you want. + the gigabyte has space for a fan on the side panel

No, they wont be in the way.. :) you just cut around them.. Then drill some new holes in the side panel.. and Cut a vent.

OK, sorry to be a pain, but do you mean chop em out, or leave em and slice round em?

Also, do you know where i can get perspex, and a rubber moulding strip for a top window. Preferably from the net, as i could go to rockford or Kington Building Supplies, but its normally kinda costly.

Well, you can buy kits from the net try specialtech. and for the window.. just cut a square in the side panel and then cut your perspex.

Thanks pat, you've been ace, should be fun looking around. I'll make sure i get a rig gallery up after christmas with the fruits of, to be fair, at least as much yours, as my labours =] Thanks again!

just to say, if your worried about the 1950 playing ut3, my 1950 pro plays bioshock (on the ut3 engine) on med-high at 1680 x 1050, so you should have no problems with it in that respect.

Thanks dave, that's a relief. I'm just thinking about modding my case now, so if anybody can help me with modding a centurion case, click my sig-link!
