Hey people , I have been looking at the Dominator 560Ti Gaming PC by Aria, however i have always wanted to build my own pc. So i am in two minds on if i should build my own pc , so that i can gain confidence and experience in doing so or just buying the pc stated by aria.

what do you guys think i should do ?

thanks

mrtechnio

Build your own 100% if you are interested in learning and gaining experience

First hand experience will teach more than reading about something or looking at a system that is already built for you, just make sure you do lots of research on the all parts you are going to use.

thanks, i guess cable management takes time first time round right ? i am thinking of building a high end pc , i7 sandybridge processor, 4 or 8gb memory, 560ti graphics card. Am i right to think i will need a 850w upwards psu ? also is there a particular motherboard you recommend ? i am worried about cooling , such as how many fans i will need to install etc. Also a prefrence of mine is that i would love to be able to build a quiet/silent pc, but i guess i will have to take the water cooling route for that.

noctua NH-D14 is your cpu cooling sorted...

case is a personal preference, i love Lian Li's, but im sure other people will recomend other types,...just stay away from tacky-fastic thermaltak

as for the hardware, im more a 939 era guy, so i cant really help there

but i would sugest a small SSD for OS drive, and a large HDD for storage,

e.g. an OCZ 64gb SSD, with a samsung F3 1Tb drive

as for cooling, depending on the case you get, it may have a decent cooling setup already, if you feel it is insufficient, research the case choice more, you may find one you like more with a better setup, if you like one that isnt great at cooling, you can always swap out the fans for aftermarket...

and a fan controler keeps the noise and temps under your control instead of automatic, always a worthwile investment...

hope that helps on a few fronts...

For one 560 you only need at the minimum a 500w PSU but to give yourself a bit of room for overclocking a 550 or 600w would be better, but if you plan on going SLI down the road a 750 or 800W would be a good idea.

The mother board depends on your budget, one of the best P67 mobos is the Gigabyte UD7 but it's ~£250 a good cheaper alternative would be the Asus P8P67 Pro or Delux boards.

for CPU cooling a Nh - D14 and for a case just get one that has good airflow, something like the Coolermaster Storm Scout, it comes with all the fans you will need but if you wanted to you could replace the ones it comes with for better quieter fans, Noctua ones are OC3D recommended.

As for RAM if you are just mainly gaming 4 is enough for you but if you use Photoshop or do 3D modeling and rendering 8gb will be needed. Oh and cable management I have never done myself so I can't comment on that

thats great info, i think i will invest in a ssd as suggested as the os will boot faster
smile.gif
, and i will also probs get a 850w psu so that i have space to play with for overclocking etc. when i learn how to do it :/ haha.

is that p57 motherboard for the i7 sanbridge affected by the sata flaw ? recommended case looks cool aswell, does it come with the red led's on the fans ? I think 8gb memory will be the one

.

SieB im guessing you have a friend who is pro at cable management then lol ? from youtube video I noticed that the cables run along the other side of the case and people just tend to cable tie them so they look neat/tidy.

As said Noctua NH D14, case of your choice(make sure it has dust filters, but generally you have to give an example what you like). I would go with a 2500K/2600K with the motherboards its currently a little bit difficult( P8P67 evo, p67 ud4) 4gb of gskill ripjaws x, 560Ti, c300 64gb&1tb Samsung f3. Something for starters.

PSU: 800 for dual, or 600 for single GPU.

*P67* sorry I did make a typo but I edited my post so it's fixed now.

All Current P67 motherboards are affected but if you buy one now you can get it replaced when the new models are released. The case does come with the red LEDs.

I have never had a case with cable management TBH I have only ever built two PCs myself and the case I have now is a Coolermaster Elite 300 which is pretty crap.

oh right i'm confusing myself here lol , so what happens if you have a case that does not have cable management , the wires just lay everywhere ? or is there still places to clip on cable ties from the wires to the case.

Wires, wires everywhere

Some cases do have places you can use cable ties to hold them in place but unfortunately mine doesn't

A new case with good cable management and airflow is next on my list.

oh ok , i see. so that case that you recommended the storm scout , i see that has cable managment
smile.gif
, so does that mean is has like some kind of clips, that the wires go through ?

You can run the cables through the other side of the case behind the motherboard and then there are holes that you can run them through to plug them in at certain points of the motherboard, so all cable the cables are hidden and just the connectors pop up through the holes in to the motherboard.

I found a pic of the CM Storm Scout showing the cable management on Google so you can see what I mean.

depends how picky you are about how messy your pc internals are...just let the wires hang if it doesnt bother you, but if you get them neat and tidy, it does look a little better, and it will keep your componants a little cooler

Hi guys, I am considering getting a pre-overclocked bundle from aria, however do you think that is a good choice for a first build ?. The bundle i am considering purchasing Gladiator Core i7 2600K 8GB Pre-Built Overclocked Bundle . I would love to hear your views on this.

thanks

Nothing against Aria but at the end of the day you can get better for cheaper, seriously build your own mate.

This is from http:\\www.Ebuyer.com but I am only using it as a reference

To stay un bias this is from Aria, you get the same parts but a better cooler the D14 and it's still cheaper, with the bundle you are paying for the OC.

will i be able to do the overclock myself though ?

Definietly, I haven't done any manual overclocking on P67 boards so I can't tell you what settings and voltages to use but if you can't manage it your self i'm sure someone here will be able to help you OC. If you would rather buy the bundle with it done for you there's nothing wrong with that but if you buy the parts seperate you get the best air cooler on the market plus you save a bit of money for snacks and beers while building it.
biggrin.gif

that sounds like great plan to me
smile.gif
, so the kit you suggested on aria would be good to go ahead with then, i guess i just need to pick a good case now , a graphics card , hdd , and an ssd.
