First Loop in Modded TJ07

After watching the review on the TTl channel of the Elysium i really wanted to do a loop in it, it would give me a lot of room for a first loop and give plenty of room for upgrades later down the line.

I was originally planning on getting an XSPC kit for a first go at watercooling but i wanted to cool the GPUs as well so i thought i would just make a custom loop instead. The build would have an 8-core "Bulldozer" CPU and the graphics card(s) will depend on what is going at the time of the build so they have not been included; the build would be around December/January to give "Bulldozer" a chance to mature and any bugs that may occur to get fixed. (As well as to give time to make this build happen)

So far i have.....

Pump: MCP655

Res: Bitspower Z-Multi 400mm

CPU Block: XSPC Rasa (plus AMD brackets)

Rads: XSPC RX480 and RX360

Coolant: Mayhems Ultra Pure H2O

Fittings: Array of Bitspower compression fittings (straight and 45 degrees)

Tubing: Primochill PrimoFlex Pro 1/2" ID with 3/4" OD

Fans: Coolermaster SickleFlow 120mm

I welcome any changes that people recommend instead of parts i have chosen.

But i was thinking that the RX360 rad may not be needed to cool a CPU and 2 GPUs (at most) so if that could be taken out i would be willing to do that....saves a bit of £££

Now this is a long shot. Not knowing how much heat the bulldozer octo-core will produce and likewise with gpu.Its most likely that both amd and nvidia have new gpu`s out for sale before christmas. What you have planned now, could be overkill or not.

But i would change the cpu-block too Aquacomputer cuplex kryos hf and change fans too Akasa apache.

Looking forward to see the build though

ok, ive never heard of that bock so ill have a look at it

but i will have to change my plans for the build if i get those fans. Ive seen you can get black ones so they will be good but as it was going to be a green and black build i will get some LED strips or something to put around the case

thank you kilobravo for your reply

ive had a look at the Aquacomputer cuplex kryos hf and i like it......the only problem i have is that it isnt black...so i was thinking about the XT version?

kilobravo why do you recommend the apaches over sickleflows?

Akasa apache is near silent at 1300rpm, 57cfm and a static pressure at 2.6mm h2o.

Sickleflows are a bit louder at 2000 rpm ,70cfm, high static pressure at nearly 3mm h2o.

At 1300 rpm the apache`s out-perform the sickleflows, and you need a fancontroller to lower noise with sickleflows, where apache`s can run 100% with no need to throttle them down.

Thats why i recommend akasa apache. They are more expensive, but you dont need to buy a fancontroller.

I havent looked at this for a few days, honestly because i forgot i did that reply.

i did look at the delrin version of block as well, but it didnt come with a back plate, so thats a no. But im not too bother about a degree or 2 in performance difference so i thought about the XT as it is nickel so still relatively black, or greyish.....

I have been thinking hard about the fans, as i wanted the green LEDs but then that means the fan controller which would then make the LEDs in the sickleflows not as bright when they are turned down. So i thought about getting just enough fans for pull or push on the rads (1 set on each) and replacing the rear fan as well with Akasa Apaches, then later doing push/pull. Then to get the lighting, NZXT 200cm Green LED kits, 2 of them should be able to go around the inside of the panel and down part of the optical drives.

So a little bit more fiddly but i think using Apaches and NZXT LEDs will look better....what do you guys think of that?

plus if i remember i will take pictures when i am doing it later in the year and post them on a build log. although me being me it will probably only take a few hours or a day to get it together.

EDIT: one thing i have not figured out yet is how i am going to like move the system around and get the air bubbles out....?

you can move the whole case but it will be rather big so i dont know if i will be able to do it, then i cant move the res around as it will be fitted in the case?

Build Plan Changes:

Case: Modded Silverstone TJ07

Reservoir: Phobya Balancer 250 (thanks to TTL review)

Rads: XSPC RX480 and RS360

Tubing: XSPC Clear 7/15"

CPU Block: Aquacomputer cuplex kryos XT

Coolant: Mayhems Dye Premix with green dye (going to make it darker with extra dye)

Shopping around for different parts i came across a TJ07 on specialtech that has been modded to take a 360 rad in the roof.....i would like to get a better quality case and i like the Silverstone so i thought i would replace the Elysium with it.

It will be about £140 more (once i have bought the loop components as some parts are cheaper)but i am unsure whether the Akasa Apache fans will work very well on the RS360....if not would the sickleflows be adequete?
