First Fermi Card Names Confirmed

3xx series cards have been in both oem and latterly laptop models in Dx10.1 from since around October last year. 310, 330/5, 350/360m are particular models I'm aware of. Similarly the 100 series, Apple and other oems have been using them without any store cards purchasable by joe-public. New Apple G5 we received @ work has a GT120 in it, equiv of a 8600GT iirc.

The naming GTX380 was originally speculatively invented on a forum also. Similar to the GTX4xx naming.

Seems kinda wierd if you ask me. They where even boasting theirselves the GTX380 name and to skip the 300s from 200 just seems funny.

To quote once more. GF100 is the only other in-house codename we're aware of.

thank friday for that!! its been a very long wait indeed! and losing aries makes me want a new graphics card! :(

Yeah, I was starting to be won over by Tom's awesome review of the Asus 5850, but I really want some PhysX love so these better be worth the wait or I'll be trading my green glasses for some red ones instead!

What a dull name. I think they should name their next line of GPUS in order of sexyness.

1- I think im gonna be sick GSO

2- Brown bagger GT

3- Smoking hot GTS

4- Vicious delicious GTX

5- Bitch Ultra

I think that would probably boost sales, regardless of complaints.

The name change is very last minute, just hope it's not a sign of desperation because the performance is disappointing
