First ever build - NZXT Switch 810

Hey everyone, thanks for all the replies. After finally getting my hands on a small enough Torq screwdriver I have now put the cooling block on the GTX680.

As I am still a novice at this I have a few probably stupid and simple questions which I am hoping people will be able to answer.

First stupid question. For the Reset light, power light, etc. How do you know which is the ground? It says on the slot into the motherboard and there is an arrow over one of the 2 pin sockets on the wire, but I don't know if that indicates ground or not?

Second stupid question. How should I attach the fan cables? All of them come with a short wire, and an extension. I was hoping to just change 3 pin to 4 pin and attach it to a molex straight to the PSU. The extensions though have both male and female 3 pin, and male and female 4 pin molex. (I may not be using the proper words, but hope this makes sense.)

In the mean time, here are some more pictures.

I have put the cables in and done some minor management in the back, but haven't taken any photos yet. I will be putting all the tubing in hopefully tomorrow, and then disconnecting a lot from the power supply to start filling it.

The cable for the CPU only just reaches, and for a while I was thinking that the only way to make it reach was to keep it at the front which would of looked great!

So here are some pictures of the front. Any problems you notice, or suggestions, please yell.

absolutely love the rig mate, cant wait till i can build a nicely spec'd machine like your's

This is insane for a first build, rig looks epic fella.

Even if I'd have had the money when I did my first build earlier this year I don't honestly think I'd have had the balls to go full on custom loop for fear of doing something basic wrong so massive kudos to you there. You've clearly put a lot of time in researching quite a bit so you need a massive pat on the back, can't wait to see the completed build.

yeh props for wc for a first ever build. First build is gonna keep you happy for a very long time!

Everything looks very very good,

BUT, the 8 pin plugs on the gtx 680 look so wierd, just having that overhang of plastic, but then theres nothing you can do about that

The motherboard, the blocks, the ram, the gpu and everything looks awesome. Nice 'n' Shiny

Right, well I came across my first big issue with the build. I forgot to check that the o-ring between the pump and res was in the proper place. So as I started filling the res and turned it on, it started leaking. Luckily it is down the front of the case and only went on some front fans and a few cables.

Because of this little hiccup, I do not have enough fluid to completely fill the loop, so have had to order more. But there are now no leaks! Below are some pictures of the tubing and where it goes. It isn't perfect, I should have used a couple of 45s from the graphics card to the bottom radiator and probably front the bottom radiator to the reservoir.

I have been researching this since about January time, and apart from wanting to do this for fun, and I know this is overkill, but I don't plan on changing this rig for the foreseeable future. So I was prepared to spend a bit extra now, and not need to update for a long time.

Anyway, onto the pictures.

Well, I received more fluid this morning which surprised me, as I was not expecting to get it until Monday. So a big thank you to SpecialTech! I filled the loop and got it running, and have managed to get practically all of the air out of the loop.

Then came the moment of truth, turning the system on. As this was my first build I have been very careful about using anti-static mats and wristbands and not damaging anything, still I was prepared for nothing to happen when I turned it on, and luckily it woke up and got to a warning saying CPU fan error.

Once I remembered that wasn't an issue I went into the BIOS and noticed only 8GB of RAM were being noticed. Cue another slight panic, until I notice 2 of the sticks are not in fully. Restarting it properly and turning the warning off for the CPU fan in the BIOS everything is working.

Some more pictures (using photobucket now so hopefully will be better) showing the final rig with the fluid running through the system. All comments greatly appreciated along with suggestions to make it better/notice any stupid mistakes I have made. Also, still in need for a name, So suggestions please!

Last thing, thanks to everyone on this forum (Overclock3d as a whole) as most of the information for this build was gathered whilst snooping round this site and to TTL for the videos.
