:D

I dont know what was stopping it, but it works now.. im a total noob at oc, so ive got it on 2706.1 MHz, what program do you reccomend i use to test if its stable? im sue it will be though.. just for when i get higher.. :)

Congrats, I use Prime95 and run it for at least 8 hrs (overnight) to test stability. If no cores have stopped then your PC should be pretty stable.

3.0ghz should be attainable on most Q6600's, just make sure the temps stay below 70C!

Ok thanks mate,

what sort of voltages should i be looking for 3ghz?

cpu = ?

nb = ?

others = ?

cheers, as u can tell im a total noob.. :p

It really depends on your Q6600, some will do it on the stock volts, some require a bump up to around 1.3v ish. Just test it with Prime95 and see if it is stable, if not, increase the vcore a little and test again. It's a long process but once it is stable then your done. You shouldn't have to touch the VTT at all. But be aware that too much volts can be as unstable as too little.

I was lucky and my Q6600 only takes around 1.39vcore and 2.11VTT for 3.6ghz.

I aint had any experience with your mobo, so would be able to say what volts you would need. Just google it and see what other have done with a similar set up to yours.

Well ive got it on 3Ghz, cpuv=1.320

My memory is weird tho.. its 1066mhz rated, but theres no setting in the bios to change FSB:DRAM ratio.. its stuck on 2:3 so its only running at 500mhz.. :(

5-5-5-15 2T is its standard timing and its set on them no probs.. ive tryed setting the speed manually to 999mhz.. but it just reverts.. :p

It's 500 x2 as it's DDR2. That is why it just reverts lol.

Anyways, your chip should do it on stock volts as far as I'm concerned. Give it a go and let us know what happens. 3GHz is very optainable on nearly every Q6600 on stock volts.

umm it reached 70~ degrees after 40 minutes prime95.. so i cancelled it..

all look ok?

you have the G0 version so that Tjmax is 100*c

so your proberly ok up to 75 80 at most

check that you dont have voltages on auto

try dropping the voltage a bit as this will lower temps

that seems high for only 3ghz,maybe you should try a reseat of your cooler

hmm i might try that. im goin to water soon anyway..

its not on auto, it stays on bout 1.29~1.31 when 100% load..

the case is nice and cool, does coretemp give acurate read outs? because idle it was like 21 degrees lol and load 75 before i stopeed it..

what hsf are you using atm? I've got a 1.3250v VID and that went up to like 59 on the stock hsf at stock clocks lol.

Q6600 @ 3ghz with a thermalright ultra about 49-55 load

Umm Thermalight SI-120 with xigmatek fan @ 1500rpm @ 81cfm.. surely something is rong if its 75 at 1.325v... :p

I cba removing heatsink right now.. so ill leave it at 3 till i install teh wc. :)
