Today I have been to the HCC! days, but sadly the hardware there was even more expensive than in internet shops. I did buy a logitech mx 518 with a mousepad though, so at least I have some results :)

Since I did not buy the parts today, I'm going to order them online :) I'm pretty certain of my setup (despite being €120 over the €1050,- budget), but would still like some comments :)

Case: CM HAF 932. NOTE: will arrive at thursday or friday

CPU: core i7 920

Motherboard: Gigabyte X58 UD5

DDR: OCZ gold triple channel 1333mHz cas9

PSU: Cooler Master Real power pro modular 700w

Graphics: Sapphire HD4850 512mb. It has a weird cooler on it, does anybody know it? link.

HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F1 640gb

Custom cooling:

Noctua NH-U12p for socket 1366

Optional: AC accelero S1 Rev.2 w/ Revoltec 120mm fan tiewrapped on it. I will only order this when the sapphire cooling solution is known to be noisy, but it really looks that way.

Should I swap anything? A 4870 will quite dramatically destroy my budget, and this way I can 'just' buy another '50 if I want more graphics performance.

EDIT: I'm looking in to the Akasa VORTEXX Neo. Does anybody have any first hand experiences? The sound level of '1.0 sone' is not exactly useful or anything.

Hmm remember that the main purpose will be CAD drawing, which doesn't require a massive lot of graphical power. And besides, I can't really afford to spend another 180 euro (card is 160 over here :/) on a gpu.

It's well worth the extra €40 for the 4870 mate. If you're planning to spend that much now, you could regret it. Gaming is always fun when not working, agreed?

Echt waar... :p

The cheapest 4870 at the shop I'm buying is 230, which makes it 70 more expensive :P I'd rather wait for my next payday and upgrade then with another '50 :)

EDIT: And a CF setup opens the possibility to even more displays. Not that I will ever do that, but just in case :)
