Feedback on G. Skill memory

From what I've been reading on a few articles , lower CAS latentcy is better than higher mhz ram (for gaming ) , ( please correct me if I'm wrong ).
I have been looking at this G.Skill ram,
G.Skill Ripjaws Z series 16gb ( 4 x 4gb ) ddr3 1600 (pc3 12800) model F3-12800CL7Q-16GBZM.
( For some reason I couldn't copy the link from newegg)
Is this a good kit ?

G skill are okay but for an extra $10-$20 you can get corsair which i personally have had no bad experiences with unlike gskill

Thanks for the feedback,
Ok , that's 1 against and 1 for.
Am I correct on the cas latentcy part of my question , is CL 7 better than say a CL 9?

Yes CL7 is better than CL9, but I honestly don't think It'll make much difference in gaming... Just get a decent, good looking set and you'll be fine :)

G-Skill rocks never had any issues with my Snipers. that said we really cannot answer which is better for gaming without knowing what your rig is. For the AMD side which hardly sees alot of improvement in speeds I'd say cas is important. While SB/IB are bandwidth whores speed is king over timings. But finding fast speeds and tighter timings are good as well.

Thanks for the input,
I play mostly Steam games (Half Life 2, Fear 2 & 3 , Serious Sam HD,..ect) also do some photography. I'd like to do some online iracing someday. MSI Z77A-GD65 for mb and either the 3570k or 3770k for a processor and a GTX 670 vc. I originally was looking at G. Skill Z 2133mhz CL9 memory ,but then I read an article saying that anything over 1600-1866 mhz isn't really worth it for gaming . So I'm still looking.

the price difference between the 1866 and 2133 in some sorts isn't a lot. i'd sport
the 2133, only because i don't know what i will be doing the next month and if
i can score it for a good price.. then i am ready, not having to re-buy speed memory, later.
yeah, the gaming side will not have that much of a marked difference, but other appz
will deffo use it to is advantage.
SB/IB = speed (GHz)

Ive never owned G Skill as Im a devout Corsair fanboy but Ive read nothing but glowing things about their RAM. Id have no problems whatsoever using their stuff.

Thanks for the opinions airdeano and Macleod,
I have Corsair LP in the pc I'm using now , but I think I'm going for the G.skill 2133 CL9.
I just have to decide what cpu cooler I'm going to use ( Noctua NH-D14 or the Corsair H 100i ), wait my case to arrive and pick out some case fans.

ive got g skill 2133 now and looking to either the dom platies or patriot because
of a black PCB.. Tom pretty much hit it on the head in th Club 3De 7950 review.
some of these manufactures can use a black PCB and actually sell more on looks
as well as performance..
ive got the ripjaws {green PC}, sniper {black PC} and vengence {green PC}
all in 2133 and there really isn't a tick difference in perf, but its a look thing as well.
yes, i am a H100 ver 1.0 owner and i will purchase the H100i because of looks
and get a small bump in temperature performance.
i am very shallow.. huh?

airdeano

Your not shallow at all airdeano , just telling it as it is.
There's nothing wrong with that.
I just watched Tom's review on the H100i and he 's sold me on it , I think it will work just fine for me right now. I definitely like the looks of it and the software is a plus .
I created an account at Specialtech and tried to get the H100i TTL edition , but for some reason I can't add anything to my cart on the site. I'll try again tomorrow.

I havent seen anyone in Australia who has th H100i in stock yet. Im not terribly worried about it as I wont be ready for it for about 6 weeks. I know someone had said in another thread that Corsair was having difficulties with their shipping atm. Hopefully they will geet it straightened out soon.

It depends on what case you're getting as to which RAM youll need, no mater what speed, as the H100i can make it pretty tight for normal size ram. Full tower cases that are liquid cooling ready wont have a problem, but mid-towers can be a whole nother story. If I put the H100i in my curent case I will need low profile memory, at least i think. Eitehr way, I probably won't chance it and will just get LP ram.

Thanks for the feedback Bang , rossi94 and CPMFW,
Sorry it took so long to reply back.
Bang , the case I'm using is a Corsair 650D ( on the way , it should be here tomorrow) so the H100i shouldn't be a problem for me. The ram I picked is 40mm tall so I don't think I'll have any issues there either. I've decided on a different kit than I originally posted.

I'm not sure exactly when I will get them now , it will probably be after the first of the year. I might be able to get a better deal then . I've decided on the G. Skill Ares , they are 33mm (Just to make sure I don't have any clearance issues ) and blue ( going with a black and blue theme ).
I'm am in the process of trying to get an H100i and 2 SP 120mm quiet fans.
And I'm still waiting for my case to arrive , so I can see what else I need . I am replacing all the case fans .

I have 4 sticks of the G-SKILL ARES stuff in my build (in blue), no problems here! The sticks look better in person too, you'll be surprised.

Thanks for the feedback PapaSmurf6768 ,
I'm hoping the blue will closely match the MSI Z77A-GD65 board .
If not , I guess it will be close enough.
