'faulty' NZXT hale82

So, another edition to 'used items' being received, and we've now had the best one so far...

I built a rig for a friend, he ordered the parts which included a 750w Hale82 from ebuyer.
The order arrived last week, but only opened the box to build it today, and inside, we found another product in interesting condition...

First, the psu mounting holes for the screws at the back. 3 worked fine, the last one either had been threaded too large for the screws, or had been over tightened, but either way did not have a thread.
Second, the psu's fan screws were only half in and so the fan wasnt mounted inside the psu properly....strange for a new psu...

Now the best - the warranty void if removed sticker had been punctured, and the twist from of the screw clearly showed that the power supply had been previously opened.

Of course I was straight on the phone to ebuyer to request the return and luckily we managed to bag an AX650 instead for £105.
The psu has now been returned so I'm waiting to hear what ebuyer say. It wouldnt surprise me if they kicked up a fuss about the warranty void sticker, but it could be a very interesting turn of events, and may end up in a few very argumentative phone calls :)

Can't see at all how ebuyer could send out a product like this. If I'd have kept it and it had have been faulty. If I'd have sent it back to NZXT, I cant see them accepting the return which renders any warranty they brag useless. We did use it for a day however - lightly may I add, just to install windows, but didnt do anything heavy on the psu in case there was an issue

Unfortunately, in events where used items are sold off, there's not much we can do for the warranty, especially when the seal for the warranty is broken. It's, well, it's there for a reason, lol.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation though. As a consumer myself, I don't like receiving things that are damaged either. I'm not familiar with this ebuyer place. When the unit was purchased was it noted as having been an open-box item?

Nope, it was supposed to be brand new.
I'm not complaining about the psu itself really. Just from orders over the last 2 weeks, I've had 4 things now that are blatantly not new.

I'm not RMAing it to NZXT, I've gone straight to ebuyer and explained that it was in this condition when we received it and therefore it would be completely unfair not to refund us. Like, I cant really see how they can say it's us who's done it. Who opens up a power supply within a day of having it?

Edit - we received it last wednesday, only opened it yesterday

Yeah, see, in America, retailers have to state "open box" even if there's no damage. At least, I believe they have to. Any reputable site does. That just doesn't sound ok to me.

Well I'd guess that they'd have to here as well. It was the last one in ebuyer's stock so I suppose that leads it more to be a returned item already.
If the retailer refuses to refund the item however, then we're gunna need to find a way to take it further...trading standards I think :)
