Faulty Noctua NH D14? 90c+

Asus11

Hello everyone, im new to this forums, glad to be apart of it finally

got some troubles with my setup at the moment

got an i7 920 D0 & i7 930 .. and both when overclocked to 4ghz with 1.275 Vcore

after like 10 mins with prime95 I seen temps of 90-91c.. I know this isnt right

I've reseated the noctua around 7 times, applied thermal paste, noctua paste, AS5, and shin etsu all at different times

and nothing seems to bring the temp down.. Im really stressing and feel like giving up at this point when I see people

go on about how they have theyre i7 clocked to 4ghz with 1.35v and not going over 70c

ambient temps are 24c

also I did install the noctua with screwing in 1 side a little by little till they was both fully unturnable

also took whole pc apart to make sure the back plate bolts was in properly

my system consists of

Jeantech Phantom case

Asus P6T Deluxe V2

6gb corsair xms3 1600mhz

I7 920 D0

Zotac gtx 260 216

750w be quiet Dark power pro 80plus Gold

Asus essence St

Noctua nh d14

Samsung 1tb f3

Case fans consist of 2 S flex 120mm 1600rpm and 1 80mm sharkoon 2000rpm

Window 7 64bit

Thankss

Have you raised a support ticket with Noctua directly?

Looks like your doing everything correctly.

How have you got the fans connected?

What are you using to monitor fan speeds and temps?

PS dont stress its only a chunk of electronics

I havn't raised a support ticket, I bought it from ebuyer, should I just return it to them instead?

I have my fans connected to the motherboard, I use real temp and core temp, I dont have any for the fans, i dont know a program I can use?

also when I touch the noctua is does seem really hot

If you get the same or higher temps using another cooler get some wet and dry paper 400g and 1000g, a small piece of glass and lap the top of your CPU (take CPU out of MB)use small amount of water, don't bend any CPU pins and lap while holding edge of CPU. Dry off reinstall CPU try again see what temps you get.

I did this to my 920 and i saw a reduction in temps. 920 @4ghz idle 36-41 degrees across all cores with NT-H1 AND NH-D14 60-70'S 3DMARK 11 PRIME 95 ETC...

I originally had Titan Fenrir and had the same as you run prime 95 and within 2-3min hit 90's. I lapped CPU and base of Fenrir and got reduction into 80's but still to high so I got NH-D14

can you post picture of rig to show position of NH-D14? or are the fans pushing air in a East to West direction out the back of the case?

Make sure both fans are on 12v, make sure its mounted correctly so take it all off again, clean the CPU and remount with fresh paste.

Also make sure all fans are pushing air towards the back of the case (the open side of the fan is the intake the side with the supports is the exhaust)

Remember with paste, more is less. Especially with the Noctua stuff, that's as spreadable as pastes get. An uncooked grain of rice would be good.

both fans are on 12v, I cleaned the cpu and heatsink around 5 times each with articlean and then 3 times each with the surface purifier...

i only dropped a very small amount in the centre of the cpu

here is the picture of my rig, I recently had my fans yesterday, installed my s flex fans the wrong way which i changed to the right way yesterday

had about 10 people on another forums tell me different, im talking about the s flex fans the 1 at the rear and the one at the bottom front

And I’m asking you if this is the orientation the fans are now? I don’t owe these fans but on every other fan that i have had the airflow goes from the front of the fan to the holding part. Your rear fan is sucking air in the case while the d14 is pushing it out towards the rear fan. Front bottom fan is pushing air out of the case. Simple laws of physics say hot air rises so your fan orientation is fu!#$d up

the picture I uploaded is when the fans was the wrong way, I changed them to the right way yesterday

nop^ .. really dont know what it is.. if this doesnt get any better I see myself selling everything and going with stock stuff
