10Ghz memory!!!! high latencys but at that speed who cares

I was hoping to get some more wild replies... it was a joke

this is an old cleron system that i now use as a smoothwal box (firewall)

its processor runs is 66fsb X 7

and that was way before ddr2 or even ddr

it has two 128mb sticks of old 100mhz sdram running with the bus at 66mhz

although this is a joke the picture really is how cpuid reported it

i have no idea why it read it the way it did

when i saw what it said i had to save a shot of it.

i recently came across the pic and i had to post it

btw, does server memory or otherwise really exist which actually has that kind of capacity and/or runs at those speeds??? (other than some mad computer scientist's project)

I don't know about those speeds but that capasity, YES, Google Googles servers that have shed loads of RAM you can get systems with hundreds of GB's of RAM

I'm sure I read somewhere that in 2009 google's servers had only 16GB RAM each (but in 2005 they had an estimated 200,000 of them). Saying that I have seen systems with a lot more than that but that's down to the motherboard having a LOAD of RAM slots, with each slot containing 2-4gig. I personally haven't seen a stick of RAM bigger than 4GB, though there may be as I haven't really been looking.

However...the NASA supercomputers (for example) have unbelieveable amounts of RAM. Here: http://www.nas.nasa....s/columbia.html - 9 terabytes of RAM!!! (NOTE: I think this is actually just a cluster of many; many; many systems).
