Far Cry 3 Not Working

As per the title, I got Far Cry 3 free with the AMD offer, installed on my machine, running all the latest versions of the software, all updates etc. (this is a completely new build) and the game fails to load at all. Boots up but then just freezes every time. I am running Windows 8 Pro and tried running in compatibility mode, but still the same issue, any suggestions before I delete and have to re-download 11GB of data?

Is the game on steam, or origin?

If so you can verify the integrity of the game files, and the origin equivalent, which will just redownload files you don't already have, or files that are corrupted.

That's worth a try first before you redownload

It's Uplay, I will have a look and see if there is an equivalent. It did come up with an error about some file on installation, but seemed to install ok. Will have a look and see if there is anything there.
