Hi Guys,

Can you guys give me some opinions on fans.

I was looking at the Corsair SP120 Performance Edition for my Radiators and AF120/140 for the case fans.

Are these any good? Or are there better fans I can get? Better airflow or anything?

Cheers

I would say those are some of the best you can get right now other then the Noctuas. I personally run the Noctuas in my rig, but have read some reviews on the corsairs and they seem to be pulling their own. Plus the price is a while lot cheaper than the Noctuas.

Hope that helps!

Only thing I have never liked about the Noctua - they are a random color - not black.

Any suggestions on which Noctuas to go for?

NF-F12 for the rads & NF-A14 for the case.

I know the colors are a bit "difficult" for lots of people, but boy those fans are damn good!

I really like the Corsair ones. If Noctua fixed that horrible coloring if theirs, I would choose them in an instant. However, Corsairs AF and SP series of fans is really a close competitor to Noctua, while still having better aesthetics.

Yea I'm gonna go for the Corsiar ones. I really like the extra little ring you get. its nice and easy to pop off. comes in 3 colours, and potentially you could spray it any colour you want to match you rig. I personally think they look really slick.

the sp120 is a great choice. but, what radiator choice are you making?
manufacturer and style? reason for asking... the fin per inch has alot to do with
what fan and what speed for optimal cooling. one comment was that a 2000rpm
fan wasn't to their liking. true, but depending on what radiator used, it might
have to be the right fan. if using a low FPI <15fpi, generally 600-1200rpm fans
with a lot of static pressure work best for noise and performance. from 15-25fpi
you will ahve to step up the fan speed to make the cooling better or suffer with
higher temps, forsaking noise. your 25-35fpi need 2000rpm+ to get a lot of air
through the tight weave of fins...

Should I use Static Pressure of High Airflow when the flow may be obstructed by the hard drives? (So HDD fans). A video I watched said you should use SP ones and another said it does not matter.

Whats your thoughts?

I agree, pressure fans for the radiator. I would mount them in a pull config. It's easyer to deal with dust buildup that way.

The difference with push and pull is that with push, you mount the fans so that they push the air through the rad while with pull, you mount them the other way so they pull the air through the rad (blowing the air away from the radiator).

You can also use push and pull at the same time (1 set of fans on each side of the rad) and get better overal performance :)

I have never seen a performance improvement with push and pull at the same time... not a significant one anyway

Depends on how thick the rad is. Won't see much improvement on let's say an H100/H100i, but you will with a thicker rad

Well mine is a thicker rad - but my small pc is going to be a H100i.

So thicker do push-pull and wih the 100i what should I do -push or pull or?

Yes, correct. If they spin at the same rpm they won't make the air go alot faster than one set of fans, and rads aren't known to be very air rezistent.
I would go with pull, for a normal slim h100 rad.
