Fans going crazy

Hi People,

Lately, when I turn my computer on from being off, the fans go crazy, like spinning max speed (One case fan and my GPU Fan). Sometimes a couple of resets stops it, until I reboot again...

I've currently unplugged my case fans, to keep me sane. Now.. I want to lower my GPU fan speed, I've tried nTune for nVidia.. Rivatuner and Speedfan.. but when I set the speeds, and click apply/Okay.. it stays exactly the same (when before it used to change it on the fly).

I think my computer is in a high fan setting mode or something.. (BTW, one case fan is fine, as it's not attached to the Mobo header, but a molex cable from PSU).

4GB GeIL RAM

550wat Purepower Modular PSU

etc etc

Any ideas? Any BIOS settings needing changing?

Hmmm i used to have the same board, only REV 1.

Check Giga's website see if theres been any BIOS changes releating to your problem, if not i'd leave well alone for now.

CTRL F1 unlocks the additional settings in the BIOS, see if theres anything in there and also check what the system status ( health / temps ) are in BIOS, it may be the bios is reading the temps high?

My graphics card goes on max speed when I turn my PC on, but that's only before it posts.

Same here but it slows down when Windows loads/is loading.

To clarify that it is a mobo fault stick the fan that wasn't on the mobo earlier on to the mobo.

Bit pointless I know but better than not knowing at all.

Are there any options in the BIOS to run the fans at a lower speed? And if there is, does it revert back to the full speed setting once the power is off? Reason I ask is that the BIOS battery might not have any charge left, so if you have another PC to swap the battery out to check, that'd eliminate that as being a problem.

If they are running of the Mb then check out those settings. Some you may get the option of %power you want to give them, setting and RPM or setting a target temp to achieve.

Usually the progs like Rivatuner you can set the start up fan speed and the sys idle and sys under load speeds. Though Rivatuner has gone nuts on me before. After removing it everything returned to normal.

I updated the BIOS to the newest version (F14).. and the problem still persisted..

I've managed to lower the CPU fan speed (after the update, it boosted the CPU speed aswell *sigh*) All I got now is the GPU fan.. spinning around 60%/75% IMO.

I've tried.. RivaTuner, nTune, EVGA Presicion, Speedfan.. to no avail. I've tinkered with the BIOS settings aswell, turning off EIST and all those other things.. PITA.
