Hey

Got around to overclocking my i7 930

http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1433850

But when I boot up, first of all it crashes a few seconds in, then it boots itself back up properly with the overclock working properly and stable.

Am I missing something here or is it something that just happens?

You might want to do more than just change the base clock

welcome to the world of overclocking. sign away your life here:

Found out that my PC is 'Fake Booting' - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fake_boot

Since I turn my PC off at the wall at night it has to do one of these in order to set the BIOS again

Anooother question

How come my system seems to take ages on the Windows boot screen even though it is clocked stable @ 3.6GhZ?

Seems to take bloody ages to boot, but it's fine once it's booted.

I hadn't heard of it before I did some google-research, but it seems to fit what was happening and does make logical sense

Seems like a good excuse to save for a SSD now
