ok it seams there is no market left in the am3 ddr3 sli mainboards anymore. so im thinking im gona slowly save for a i7 set up but need advice on what to look for.

what i do is mild gaming & media server. im limited by the chrisray memorial case to only a ATX board. i have a 1200w psu so a high power board shouldn't be a issue. i also run windows 7 ultimate x64.

Alice that would be because of this mate.

In short they decompiled an X58 bios to see how it was running both and then used the instructions to over ride the bios calls. So go right ahead and get yourself a Crossfire board if you wish.

well that opens a lot more options up for me then. i relly like the asus ROG rampage boards alot and if i can keep my 955 black edition processed and duall chanel ram that will help out alot

on another note when i was cleaning my processor i guess had to mu compound on it and some was in the pins. i called a lot local pc shops all i could get was try a razor blade. i wasn't brave enough to put a razor blade to the chip but my handicap parking card fit perfectly between the pins. i got about 99.8% out the pins. do u think i will have any problems???

if the paste is silicon or ceramic (white) then you don't need to go mad. If it is aluminium based (silver) then I would get it all off.

You can get cleaners that get rid of it. They break down the grease in it and it washes away, and then it dries pretty quick. It's similar to acetone apparently but DONT use acetone lol.

Look for a TIM cleaner or something on Newegg.

I would get some cleaner Alice. It's better to be safe than sorry.

people telling me alcohol and tooth brush. scares me though if i trash the pins its useless

im almoust think starting to buy i7 parts good idea. like the 950 for $260 and a Rampage III Extreme down the road and go triplchannel wont be a fast slution i know but its something

it seams like a 50/50 on what will happen the pins where bent before and i straitened them but it weakens it doing that. makes me wonder if i should just invest in a new chip like the AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition Thuban 3.2GHz @ Newegg.com & Amazon.com. do you all think it is worth the risk to my motherboard???

The easy way to bend pins back if you bend them is to a back plate off one of your pci slits in you case and you can bend them all back straight. Its not a problem just take your time.

And defo clean slowly and carefully. But dont worry about it as we all do mistakes like this one time in our lives.

i found out something last night that made me decide to to just buy a AMD Phenom II X6 1090T. when i was taking out my heat sink it ripped the cpu out of the socket. i was told told that was supper bad so thinking best to play it safe. only part that sucks is my fiancee is accusing me of doing it on purpose.

If you do decide to move to i7 in the end (for what ever reason or the other you dont like your x6) for a fairly reasonable priced upgrade the asus sabertooth would be a nice addition as its priced towards the lower end of the x58 boards and is still damn good, pair it up with a nice set of 1600-2000mhz corsair/muskin ram and a 930/950 and your set
