The ESC fits perfectly into this thread because it's again the misconception of interpreting acceptance as tolerance. Conchita Wurst would've probably not won the ESC if she wouldn't be a transsexual but everyone who didn't vote for her is a homophobic conservative. Why do we all have to feel so sorry for minorities and celebrate everything that is out of the ordinary. Just let the homosexuals live in peace and treat them like normal people, not like they are ambassadors of freedom. I bet most of them would prefer it that way and those who don't are just longing for attention anyways.

Racism as in hate for another people from another country type of thing or from another ethnicity to your own.
But that's not what's happening, Because a lot of people refuse to bend over and say "this time no lube please" automatically they are called racist.
For instance I was on my way to work yesterday and I stopped off at a coffee house to get a cup of Joe to wake myself up.
There was a man of African descent who I'm guessing was in a rush to get to work and because I wouldn't let him skip infront of me I automatically became a racist baby killer who needs to be shot and he started shouting about it to all because I said "Sorry bud I'm also in a rush".
Needless to say I didn't let him skip infront of me on principle, Ignored him while smiling, Got my coffee and happily drank it on my way to work.
That's the type of "Extreme" behavior this thread is about, If you say no to any ethnicity or group you are automatically a racist baby killer and I am getting ******g sick of it.
I have been the victim of racial bullying, Stabbed because I'm not English and went to English school, From 11-17 I was in fights everyday in school because someone didn't like the fact that I'm not from England but you don't see me waving the racist card around like a prick bell end.

Don't bother yourself about ESC, when its not trying to be furiously anti Russian (some people voted for the beard as they like it upsets Russia) its a massive circle jerk for people in the more liberal countries and/or people voting for their own country out of a misguided sense of patriotism.

OK. I think I understand now.
Here in the States, partly because of our history, and what our ancestors went through, and what is still going on, there is a slightly different definition for racism. Although from time to time, we all may be guilty of prejudice/bigotry, racism is something else.
Racism is institutional. It has been well documented how official oppression is built into many, if not all parts of the state, from police to housing to education, to distribution of resources.
Your thoughts ?
It's a shame you can't read the german news. The german jury didn't give her any points, the only reason she got points was that the callers voted her on #1. Now the media is calling the jury a bunch of homophobes which don't get the significance of showcasing how important tolerance is. I thought that stupid contest was supposed to be about the best song.

Well as I'm half irish half German having grown up in England I have actually been declined jobs because of it, When I was unemployed the job center I went to had IRISH in red letters on my file, I got turned down for so many jobs.
That's why I get seriously pissed off when someone from Africa or of African descent say "Yeah well my people had 200 years" yet they conveniently forget the Irish had 750 years of oppression by the english, Rape and murder, BUT OH NO THAT'S DIFFERENT BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE BROWN SKIN.
Oh whoop de fucking doo, the god damn "my people suffered" card is so invalid, they all deserve a slap for it. Your ancestors suffered, not you. My ancestors might have even been responsible for that, but i am not my ancestors and i am not responsible for what they did.
Not too long ago a friend of mine told me about a show he saw on television where grandchildren of holocaust survivors complained about panic attacks due to deathcamps. Seriously?

Dicehunter, you kind of made my point. History tells us the British first oppressed the Irish. But you must remember they brought that oppression to much of the then known world. And they used the tools they deemed necessary to get control of the worlds resources. In your peoples case, it was a class issue. In my case race is an artificial construct which has multiple uses for the oppressor. Sort of an invention to define peoples by the color of their skin while also allowing for a strategy which is not new, divide and conquer. Is race an american invention ?
One point though. This system of oppression has been in place for a lot longer than 200 yrs.
I don't believe in playing the game of who suffered more. The fact that we both have suffered under this system of oppression should give us the incentive to try and change it to one that is more democratic and fair for all.

Indeed, I just cant wait for the worlds population to intermingle so much that we'll all be 1 colour, I imagine it will be a golden tanned colour and anyone who even thinks of bringing the word race into a conversation gets dropped off on an island were they can't cause any hate and trouble, Left to live out their days in peace and quiet.
