Extra Cap on EVGA Supernova G2 750W 8-Pin CPU Cable

Hi

I started to take apart the cables for my EVGA Supernova G2 PS to sleeve them. I noticed there is an extra capacitor on the 8-pin CPU cable. I am wondering what it is for? Is it needed? The rest of the cable appears to be a normal strait through 8-pin setup. I sleeve by taking 1 wire out at a time so not to get mixed up. Any help would be appreciated

I couldn't find anything about it. Its a superflower psu so I'd imagine that it is there for a reason.

The only thing i can think of is a way to try and smoothen out "ripple" to give a less damaging power flow.

Is it on the PCI only heads or all of them?

I read this as the CPU 8 pin one?

There is one on the MB end of the CPU 8 pin cable and 3 caps on the MB end of the 24 pin cable. First time I have ever seen that. I need to do some looking before I take apart the 8 pin or the 24 pin ATX power.

Here is a photo of the MB End of the 24 pin cable once the all in one sleeve cut away. I have taken quite a few power supply cables apart and have not seen this setup before

They are Decoupling capacitors. Super flower use them quite often, they are used to provide power instantly upon request from hardware, so they don't have to wait for the PSU.. Instant power without lag.

These are usually found within the PSU itself, who knows why they are out on the cables....poor manufacturing is most likely the case.

they'd be hidden by the sleeving usually I believe.

That was the case, I cut off the black mesh with the heat shrink on each end. The caps were right under the shrink. When I start to take apart a cable and individually sleeve the wire, taking off that dammed mesh that the manufacturers use is the first thing done.
