EVGA GTX 580 Temps??

Hi my GTX 580 Temps idles at 43°C & at load say when I run Crysis at Max Setting 8xAA, dx10, Vsync off, 1920x1080 temps jump to 82°C-83°C is that normal.

note: this is the SC Edition and the fan is at auto

& my case is NZXT Phantom

Thanks in advance

They are the fans that came with the case which are,

2 120mm side fans

1 240mm top fan

1 120mm back

& I added 1 120mm in the front (for HDD Cooling)

Your fan setup seems reasonable so I think your OK in terms of case ventilation. Hopefully someone with more experience can comment further. My 580 reaches 70 C when playing Crysis and that's with a non-reference cooler on Auto settings. So I think 82-83 C is probably normal for the cooler being used on the card. I wouldn't be too worried about it unless it goes over 90 C.

My 580 can reach those temps and im not worrid, Most of the time my fan is set 65% while gaming.

Same EVGA SC aswell

so it's all good, your's also reach 83C. well that's a relief. Do u think tweaking the fans to fixed value is the way to go or just keep it on auto?; using EVGA precision.

Was wondering about witcher 2 have u played it and what temp. were u getting.

Thanks

Yes i will allways set my fan before i go into game, for witcher 2 i set it to 75% as it gets toasty but cant remeber actuall tmps cos i havnt played it in a while.

Is it ok if I keep the fan speed at auto even if I'm running witcher 2, crysis,...i.e gpu intensive apps

Yup, it's still alright to do so. But, if you're really concerned about higher temperatures you can always set the fan speed 70 - 80% in that regards.

If you run MSI afterburner, you can set a custom fan profile for your card - that way you can set the fan speed to whatever you want.

My EVGA SC can easily get into the 90's on some games, I emailed EVGA support and all they said was blow air through the card to clean it! I did that and no difference! I have also changed the Tim and got a small reduction but the best way is to use Afterburner to change the fan profile but it does become very noisy with the stock cooler.

one thing to remember is GPU's can go higher than cpu's so 83c is still in the safe zone no doubt. Plus as recommended use afterburner and set up a custom profile I set mine to like 40% at idle and up to 40c then I have iot go up 1% per 1c after that this way it kinda give ya an audible suggestion as to temps. the louder it gets the warmer its running. might also try and have a fan blowing at it if possible. I set up a 120mm fan at a 45degree angle blowing at my 570 and I saw a 5c drop in temps across the board (not that it was ever high) but I also have alot of fans in the case as well.
