Everything starts and no video :(

I have just put together my new system and it boots up but will not show anything on display. I didn't put it anything inside the case yet just used my motherboard box as a workstation. I've reset cmos, took took it all apart, waited reconnected and still nothing. Graphics card fan is spinning, cpu fan spinning, hdd/cd rom working. At first CPU led light was on and it now off :/. Quick system specs, 8150fx, 7970 sapphire, sabertooth 990fx motherboard.

Missing the cpu 4/8 pin power connector?

nope i triple made sure. Mobo has an 8 pin connector so i connect the 8 pin off of my psu. GPU has a 8 pin and a 6 pin so i used 4 and 4 for the 8 and 6 + 2 for for the 6. I tried other variation and nothing :/. Also tried starting with 1 stick of ram...same thing. Right now i just took it all apart and will put it in the case. Connect power buttons, leds etc so i know whats working and whats not.

Do you have a spare graphics card?

You are just going to have to narrow it down to the fault.

Dam. Thats going to be a nightmare to solve. Not got any family/friends that can lend you a graphics card?

None of my friends build computers. they just buy them at the store and pay more. This is my 2nd build and even though sometimes it could give you a headache, its worth it in the end when it starts and you have the final product. I was thinking of going to best buy and buying a random graphics and then return it i ordered online and would have to rma the card then wait then find out it's not the card etc. Im still putting the thing together i will let you guys know. I found out my stock cpu cooler wasnt all the way secured so maybe that was the problem. Im still waiting on my water cooling parts so stock one will have to do for now.

im using an adapter vga to dvi adapter as i can't find my dvi cable. do you think that could be the problem?

another thing when i plug in a mouse it doesnt read it because the little light on wont come on

The mouse might light doesnt come on? That sounds like a power issue what power supply do you have? And btw why use 4+4 for graphics card and 8 pin for motherboard? Im not sure but Im pretty sure that can damage the motherboard

so i hooked it all up. now the PSU i have is XFX Pro850w xxx edition. I hooked up all the fans light etc. the fans are spinning, cpu fan is spinning, gpu fan is spinning case fans are good, cpu led is not lit. i have 2 ram sticks right now, mouse light still not on. cpu i have the 8 pin connector, gpu 6+2 and 6+2. once connection is 8 and the other 6

dude guys i figured it out. there was some jumper pin thing on the mother board. i took it off turned it on and voila! what the hell is that thing?

i looked it up in manual it's called clear rtc ram 3pin. Description This jumper allows you to clear RTC( Real Time Clock) etc. its just a small plastic 3 pin connector.

Yes that could happen.. a few years ago I used a DVI(gpu) to VGA(monitor) adaptor and on one of the vga cables I got no single. The vga cable you have might be analog only.
