I have always wanted to post on OC3d ever since its layout was bland and the old logo and website style existed and I finally decided to come join!

This log is about a computer I am making for myself!

I have already started this build so here are some defining posts from start to now to give you an idea of what my mod is all about.

Backplate from HELL



Backplates arent meant to be complicated but somehow, I managed to make the most complicated backplate ever. I've narrowed it down to two possible reasons. Maybe im just becoming a more sophisticated kind of guy or maybe living with my fiancee has turned me into a woman.

Noone can be certain. However, one thing is for sure.....this is one complex backplate.

So we all saw the previous post showing the drawings for this cut. Instead of leaving it nice and simple I decided to make it all cluttered and a little more informative.

Im just using some beat up temp sensor for the fitting, it got a new bunch on the way in the correct colours. The middle one is the bios lcd. It tells you all sorts of wonderful and useful stuff like how its feeling and why its favourite colour is blue...

So, this clear plate goes over it just to make it semi obvious that the top is an air temp sensor and the bottom is the water. Thats as far as I will go with autocad vectors...designing a waterdroplet and some air arrows. They dont look particularly great but I did my best

This has not been mounted in the case yet, I will get around to doing that later though!

Okay its 2am, spent a while designing a cut run for tomorrow. I have a feeling that this cut run will take a long, long time. Once I hit the go button, im out for a coffee *I really need one*

So to explain whats going on here....

1. The X series bit is a cover for the radiator and also acts as a fill port for the system.

2. The array of holes is for the atx cables to go through when they have been sleeved. I also have 4 pin ones for the molex.

3. Theres also random bits for the front of the case for asthetics as well as asthetics for the power button.

4. The bigger holes are for water tube management, I have the water route figured out and its really complex but it will be tidy. Basically its going res > drain T line > pump > rad240 > rad360 > CPU > Mosfet1 > Mosfet 2 > NB > SB > Tube reducer > fill T line > res

All in all, 24 bitspower black sparkle compressions, 10 right angle compressions, two T lines and two stop caps have been assembled for the final loop. At approximately $8.00AUD a fitting (right angles cost more) -_- well you do the math.... There was also the copper to make the blocks and I have yet to even start on a GPU block because I dont have the GPU.

The fillport goes straight into the res at the highest point of the loop whilst the drain port is similiar, bottom of the loop and just before the pump and res. It will be possible to do complete drains and fills without much trouble at all and getting the loop started wont be difficult at all!

Time for another update!

I am officially running out of acrylic, believe it or not, this case is featuring just short of 2.4m*1.2m acrylic inside.

Well not really, offcuts turned up around half of the material and I really need to do more cuts like the following, nice and bunched components. Wait.....

Yeah, doesnt look so badass in protective film. Have faith though, I designed this with badass in mind.

Also managed to create those tube managers.

These are the holes for the ATX cable to go through, those wires will be MPDC-X sleeved in white
