I'm glad you got it working, PC's can be tempremental like that sometimes.
You're wrong about the battery though, all it does is keep the clock running when the computer is unplugged and in some cases it stores bios settings. The bios itself is a flash chip so the computer should post with a dead battery or no battery at all. The standby rail on the PSU takes over from the battery when the computer is plugged in.

Its just weird that all my problems stopped after i put in a new battery.
i didnt think it would be related. from what i knew about the batter all it did was keep the clock ticking and reset the bios once removed. I was just stating what weird happenings i had before and after the battery issue. i myself had a hard time believing that the little battery caused all this.
the first sentence in that post was a frustrated smart ass remark
