Email on the move?

Other than an ultra portable laptop which is impractical for a number of reasons abroad, what setup would you recommend for email on the move? I need to invest in a portable wifi device that allows me to stay in touch with you lot!

The latest mobile phones have those web browsers, so you'll be able to surf and sort out mail - which all seem quite funky! :)

Not sure i like the idea of using a mobile phone for the important stuff though - I was thinking of something dedicated. What about these Blackberry devices?

Blackberry's work very well from what i have seen, my dad has one and it does him fine. Im not sure how easy they are to setup though.

A friend of mine has a windows mobile phone, he said it was easy to setup, and he likes it because he can keep his calendar from outlook on it.

Both are password protected etc, so i would probably choose on the basis of cost and ease of install.

My mobile is due for replacement next month I think - but I'm still not keen on the idea of a mobile phone with impossibly small buttons being used to access my emails (100's a day in some cases) whilst I am away. I can't see it lasting :D

I'll look some up though!

If your on O2 then I can VERY highly recommend the XDA Exec or XDA II. I personally have the XDA Exec and use it all the time to send email, it even logs into my office's exchange server and can get pop email aswell. They can also take SD memory cards for storing stuff on so you don't loose that info. I have a 1Gb card in mine atm, and it has about 6 MP3 albums on, my maps for my sat nav for all of Europe (TomTom Nav 5) and about 150 emails :)

http://xda.o2.co.uk I think is the URL if you wanna find out more.

I recently upgraded the firmware on mine aswell, and the latest editions now have PUSH email which is pretty cool.

Edit - You can also syncronise the XDA's with Outlook to keep everything up to date, and use your ADSL line for downloading stuff onto it through the USB cable, it's clever as hell. Has WiFi, Bluetooth, Touchscreen, blah blah blah

No probs mate, if you wanna know anything else bout the XDA's you have my MSN as I've had or used them since the original XDA I came out lol.

The windows mobile (made by Qtek i think) that my friend has a slide out mini-keyboard, i think it probably has about the same sized keys as a Blackberry (or at the least the most commons business ones). It is also touch screen so you can also use the stylus to type on an on board keyboard.

My dad gets crazy amounts of emails on his Blackberry and it has stood up to it very well (must be 1.5years old now i think), the scroll wheel on the side is very easy to use.
