EK D5 Pump

Just finished bleading my system but before I mount it properly I'm wondering what speed to set it because it will be a nightmare to adjust after

also I can't see the fluid moving so I don't know how quick its going

The build has 2 360 rads if that helps

Thanks

That's a really tricky question to answer for me dude I would go by my cpu/gpu temps at different speeds if I were you my D5 is in a Bay res so I can adjust it while its fitted sorry I can't be of more help

I'd go with around #2 (~2500RPM) they don't get much quieter going below that. I drilled a hole through the motherboard tray right behind where mine sits so I can poke in a screwdriver and adjust it. No idea where your putting it but just a thought.

Honestly, I'd max it out at 5. D5's are very quiet pumps. If it bugs you at speed 5, lower it from there. Definitely do what JR mentioned though, and see if you can rig up an easier way to adjust it. I've had both my D5's running at full blast since the beginning, but I'm not an "absolute silence is a must" guy either.

I would put it at 2 or 3 and you will have enough power. But also like Bartacus said, even at 5 the D5 is still quiet.

Thanks guys think I'll leave it at 5

Also the other thing is should I see the fluid going round as I'm parnoid i have a air lock even if if bled the bubbles out of it

Air bubbles can take some time to work out. You can try tilting your case back and forth, side to side, etc, to get the big bubbles out, but they usually work themselves out if you just let the system run for 24-48 hours straight. Once the bubbles are mostly gone, it's hard to see the flow without a flow meter. If you're paranoid, put some load on the system and keep an eye on the temps. Those will tell you everything you need to know about the water doing its job.

you really don't need to leave it at 5 for normal operation, 2 or 3 is fine. 5 is for filling and shift stuck air, that's literally it.

Hes right. Orca runs on #2 and thats with 2 massive rads, cpu mobo and two GPU blocks

Thanks guys , never new the pump was that strong I'm only doing cpu and 2 gpu with 2 rads so speed two should be more than plenty for me

Thanks for the advice , honestly think I will fit a flow meter as my ocd is making me pariniod if the loop is circulating

The D5 is a very strong and reliable pump in the meantime you can just feel the pipe to see its working I hope this puts your mind at rest
