Easy way to srtip paint

hey guys

just got a Lian-Li PC7-B chassis from a good friend for free , but it has an awful yellow paint job on it from using standard spray paint,just wondering if i can just remove the lot with some paint remover from BNQ or something like that?

I dont think there is any easy way of doing it like sprays, You'll end up sanding it.

I would have thought that spraying over it would be the best thing. I wouldnt bother removing it, just add to it.

Sandblast the lil thing! Go to your local college and ask one of them to do it. I did it for someone .

I used to work in a tractor factory on the small parts paint line, and we used to take our cases in on nights and get them dipped in the caustic baths they had there. It strips the metal down and removes any rust etc. We then used to stick them on the line and get them sprayed, which was great as long as you liked Case Tractor red or black Anyways, ramble over, you can get the cases dipped at some metalwork places if you do some ringing around. I know there are a few places here where they will do it for a small charge.

i got in touch with a powder coater very very local to me and he has sand blasting eq, and if i just spray over the original job it creates another layer of paint which is bad for drive bays as soon as you slot your drives in paint normally goes with it

Or 2 rolls of high grit sandpaper

You cant powder over paint, otherwise when its baked it all lifts and bubbles.

Sand/media/water blasting can warp case panels as all the friction creates heat.

Paint stripper or elbow grease matey, or a mixture of the 2 is how I normaly do it. Ive rescued a few cases this way.

yes like tom said elbow grease is the best way i have been doin it this week took me a few hours get a nice thin metal spoon and just scrape it off. a little sandin after and clean it off with some good ol degreaser!

With a spoon PMSL, a paint scraper is only a couple quid!

I always use just a Sander. Works a charm. 45mins layer have you have yourself a shiny aluminium finish.

Go for the caustic dip!! For the price of a couple of pints and no elbow grease with sanding, you get a finish on the metal that's as clean as the day is was pressed Decent paint shops sometimes have them and it's worth checking out.
