EA Origin Store

Steam has been pretty bad for downtime lately, I think they have had a few DDoS problems. For the last three days or so the servers for Dark Souls 2 and a few other games have been down for a few hours here and there due to probs with steam.

I've personally had way more problems with Origin, Last week I bought the Mass Effect 3 DLC and it didn't even register that I bought it so I had to go through the horrible EA support that kept telling me to reset my modem and install internet explorer and push weird combinations of buttons and make sure Windows Update was on -_-

I asked to be transferred to someone in either America or Europe, Eventually the dude in India listened, I got transferred and then my problem got sorted out by a Scottish guy who never once told me to reset my modem ^_^

Personally I have never had a problem with Origin, I'd rather have steam only but Origin has never caused me probs so I have nothing against it.
It is just a pain in the ass having more than one client for games, I would much rather have one.

Uplay is worse though, you can still buy a Uplay game on Steam but to play it you need to launch it through Uplay which makes buying it on Steam pointless.

Luckily the only game I have is Farcry 3 that goes through Uplay but I have pre-ordered Watch Dogs though.

I want to get Watchdogs but Uplay puts me off, i'm going to wait to see if I can get a cheap RU key off a cdkey site first. Unfortunatly though they are usually Steam keys, so it looks like I will just have to deal with two clients for one game :\

Watchdogs looks like it will be worth it though.

It does look really interesting. I paid £20 for it through G4A. Uplay hasn't really bothered me though but it hasn't been on my system for longer than a week. Xmas 2012, I had a lot of spare time so I purchased FC3 on sale and completed it in about a week.

Steam has been (for me at least) as reliable as any other high-traffic high-burst website. If something big happens / is planned sometimes you get a minute or two of iffy'ness, but honestly I've very rarely had the kind of problems I've heard a lot of people mention. Could just be timing? Don't know, but it's been around so long now it almost feels like it always will be lol.

Same, The only hiccup I've had was the other day when planned maintenance took place.

Don't you remember the L4D2 for free fallout? Steam was completely fucked for at least 3 hours.

Just to clarify, this isn't EA being decent at all, at least not in my eyes this is them buttering people up because they are shit and will never be anything but shit...

'Love us, have free cake'..

BUT YOU BROKE BATTLEFIELD YOU BUNCH OF VACUOUS ..

yeah I'm done with EA

Other than the documented issues that people have had with EA and the games etc, I have not really had a issue with them.

The last time I needed to contact EA it was to transfer some games from my account to someone elses, after 30 minutes on the phone my friend had the games and my library was cleaner.

The time before that was because my activation limit had been reached for NFS Hot Pursuit, called up EA and they messed up and actually disabled my key and couldn't fix it properly so they issued me, with a new code and also gave me 2 other games for the hassle.

Before that was because my Crysis disc had been damaged and I couldn't find a copy to download of the net, called them and they added one copy to my account and one to my brother in laws account.

Steam on the other hand, don't offer anything like that level of support and won't refund a game if it's gone passed the release date by 1 second, or if you cannot play it because the devlopers have messed up and it won't run.

If I can manage to not use Steam in the future I will kiss it good bye and be happy.

What you said ^_^

And to think SW Battlefront 3 will be an EA product. I'm terrified. If they can cock up sim city...

I'm going to hire an exorcist and send him to EA's HQ, It's the only logical reason behind their terrible failures.

They should stop listening so much to the old fat shareholder men and women at the top and start being a proper games company instead of "Oooh how can we milk this ???".

Yup, unless they let Dice do a proper job and don't rush them it's already in the pidgin hole for 'Could have been great, wasn't, was shit, don't reinstall'
