E3 2013

Sonys press conference. Was looking forward to some Assassins Creed 4 and guess what? Game lagged then froze and ended early... Ubisoft probably fired their programmers lol

Not to be narrow-minded, but I'd seriously question the sanity of anyone who would buy an Xbox One. Boycott the damn thing.

MS= Pay more for a slower console!
Sony= Pay less and with tons of free games!
Console Consumer= I just want COD...

That's how it is now and won't change.

yh i stayed up till half 4 this morning to watch it (uk time) and i loved the bit when he announced you can play used games :) just the look on his face was basically a middle finger a MS lol

Although Sony don't enforce DRM on used games, then don't restrict against it either which means that developers can do this if they wish.

So Kingdom Hearts 3 is finally unveiled! I'm so happy right now :p
The first Kingdom Hearts was the first game I ever played on the PS2 when I got it when I was 8, and I've loved it ever since! I replayed it like 4 times :D
Never properly played the second one, and that still haunts me until this day :p
Now just to wait for an emulator for PC to play PS4 / XBOX One games, because I want this on PC, I won't get a XBOX One, and won't get a PS4 until a few years after release.

Which isn't strictly true , as Yoshida clarified, again, today.

The system is exactly the same system as the PS3 :

Sony will allow publishers to monetize services and multiplayer on used games.

Sony mandate that all single player is available offline, unrestricted , forever.

Essentially all publishers can do is continue to use online passes.

There's been some clarification over your exact policy from Jack today. We understand that third party publishers can still opt to implement some kind of online restriction on pre-owned games?

What he talked about is with the offline portion there's no difference from PS3 in that every game is playable on PS4. In terms of just getting access of multiplayer online, it's now taken care of at a platform level by PS Plus. So our first party titles had the online pass on PS3 and Vita. That we are not doing on PS4 because of that platform level. It's the same for third parties; when it comes to just giving you access to online multiplayer, it's PS Plus going forward.

There are lots of different reasons. One is that publishers are providing the network services. The simplest example is an MMO; you have a huge community and your constantly adding content... It's an online service. It doesn't make sense that a disc gives you access to all of the online service forever, right?

Another example is games that have content DLC included in a season pass. Outside of just giving access to multiplayer, it's at publishers' discretion to come up with a new business model and offer to consumers.

But that's limited to just the online aspect?

Yes.

Yoshida went on to say that in the simplest terms , it is exactly the same system they use on the PS3.

He went on to explain that they know how fragile games are at retail and how reliant brick and mortar are on used games, and the sales that the used games market help generate.

Yes , MP is now behind a PS+ pay wall.

Which of course sucks, the only redeeming feature is , unlike XBL , all your TV apps are not hidden behind the pay wall, the F2P games are not behind the paywal and Instant game collection is staying , starting with DriveClub and the indy games they showed at E3

What's IP games.

PS+ is around £30 per year , for that you get :

Instant Game collection :

Plus discounted games and DLC on the store, early access to beta's and exclusive demo's, background/low power updating and cloud storage for games saves.

The games rotate in and out , so new games are added all the time, once you download a game its your to keep and play as long as you have a PS+ subscription.

So yeah it's a pay wall, but at least Sony add some value to their online service.

At launch of PS4 DriveClub and the indy games we say During their E3 presser will begin teh next gen Instant game collection.

Looking at how with PS+ you get free games I would assume that over the course of it's life span you would get most of the initial console price back, considering the price of games the £40 a year is only 1 game so if you got 4-5 a year you would be looking at saving yourself £80 if the console last 7 years it pays for it's self and anything after that is money in your pocket. just a thought
