Ever wanted both a PS4 and an Xbox One crammed inside one single system? Well, the future is looking bright, friend. A very skilled modder by the name of Eddie Zarick, the same person who has made laptops out of Sony's PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's Xbox One, has recently unveiled his latest work on his own website, and while his previous creations were very interesting to say the least, this new mod takes it all to a higher level.
Pictured above is the 'PlayBox 4One'. As you can probably guess, it's another laptop. This one, however, has both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One in it. It features the same 22" Vizio screen, and according to Eddie, 'it works like a charm.' The PS4 is positioned on the left side of the unit, accompanied by the Xbox One on its right side.
As a system like this is anything but ideal, compromises had to be made. The USB ports of the Xbox One couldn't be extended to the outside of the case, for example. The only major issue Mr. Zarick encountered was the PS4's power button not working correctly because of interference with the Xbox One though. The 'laptop' has two Ethernet- and two HDMI Out ports, one for each console. On the back of the PlayBox is a red button, which will switch power between the PS4 and the Xbox One. What's interesting is that the PlayBox only requires one power cord, which has to be plugged in (there's no battery).
Unfortunately, the PlayBox isn't for sale yet. This particular unit was made as a prototype for a customer. Zarick has stated that additional units may be built in the future, but due to the complex and costly process of building the thing, it will have a much higher price than the XBook's and Playbook's (Zarick's other mods, which are both for sale for $1495,- each ($1195,- if you provide the console)).
What do you think about this? Is this actually a cool product, or is this merely a gimmick for 'filthy console peasants'?
