Dying Hard Drive?

The last few days I have started having some real problems with my pc, every few minutes my computer will run so so slow, web pages will take about 2 minutes to load and if I open my documents etc It will take about 30/40 seconds to load.

Could this be my hard drive? It is about 6 years old I think and according to HDDLife it has had over a years of use

Cheers

Yeah I used Seatools and did a quick scan and it came back fine :/ I shall do a full scan tonight
problem is quick scan doesn't delve deep enough, it doesn't check unoccupied space or the actual disk surface itself, just looks at contiguous files and used spaces i believe

What makes you think it's not the hdd?
Well, I've had experience with harddisks dying, more than one. And I would never see it coming, I've experienced this 4 times (old drives) and all of the time it would never decrease in performance, but just die without decrease in performance. Could just be my bad luck though.

I do have a weird drive in a laptop.
I bought the laptop because it was an amazing deal and the laptop used to be one of the display models from PC world, so not brand new, but not exactly used at all either, and it has no marks whatsoever on it.

The hard drive does sometimes make weird noises though. This doesnt affect performance whatsoever, but it's been like that since I bought it. I'm prepared for it to die and if it does it wont be a huge loss, but as it's been running for a couple months like this, in my experience they dont just break straight away.

The 3 HDDs I've had in the past have all died more or less instantly. Occasionally I've had an extra hours use out of it, but not long

The HDD might have been having issues reading files (i.e. trouble with the read head). Let us know if you experience any other issues.

If you have a hiren disk laying around boot into the disk and run the hardrive check it should scan the whole drive outside windows and tell you if you have bad sectors.
