DVD/RW SATA Drives

I'm going to be buying a couple soon for my new case and just want to know if anyone has any good or bad experiences of particular brands / models.

Noise and reliability are what I'm looking to know about really.

Stay away from Sony/Operatic.

Pioneer are probably the brand I've been most impressed with. Samsung are pretty good, have a lot in work. Happy with liteon so far. LG is a little loud in my experiance, but other than that pretty good.

I agree with Ham, I have a sony in mine setup when it starts up its like a 747.

Thinking about it, we have a good couple of thousand Samsungs at work... Haven't really used them much though.

I have had most experience with Samsung drives and they do impress.

It is also nice to disable the IDE channels once everything is SATA.

I have a optiarc OEM drive which is very loud cheap though

Samsung ftw though.

I have one Samsung which is very loud and one which is not.

I think it could be due to the case though.

I have a sony Blu-ray drive and have no problems with it at all.

Think I got one of each in both ide and sata, one bluray pioneer sata.

They're just as good as each other imo tbh.
