DIY side window from Lian Li PC70

instead of spending £££ on buying a side window i'm thinking of cutting the case side panel with a jigsaw and then getting a piece of plexi glass from my local diy store.

so just wondering do i drill a hole so i can fit the jigsaw blade in the panel to start the cut, or my friend recommend using a Dremel.

Either of those tools are fine as I have used both before for case modifications, although you will need a few dremel cut-off wheels if you decide to take that route. Just remember to tape up around the outside of where you're going to cut to prevent scratching the surface. Here's a guide I did ages ago for a top-mounted blowhole...but the principle and procedure are exactly the same for what you want to do.

thanks PV5150 for the guide, my neighbour as a dremel so guess i need to get some more cutting discs just in case and hopefully because the panel is aluminium it be easier to cut through.

will post some pics when i completed.

wow that is a nice guide... thx a lot

kinda rushed it using a jigsaw so did not turn out so good, oh well looks good from a distance i guess and only cost me £3 for the plexi glass :)

get some of that rubber edgeing stuff

Thanks for the advice but i kinda superglued the plexi onto the panel so its going to be difficult to remove. i'm just going to leave it for now.

My pleasure mate...glad you found it useful.

@ ichiban: Tis a pity you didn't take a little more time with it as the margins are very crooked as can be seen in the second shot. Oh well I guess it comes down to user preference in the end - you have a ghetto Li :) Btw, what's up with your coolant it looks very pale?

Hi PV5150, I usually use Zerex but ran out so used Water Wetter which I had sitting around and its making theat pale colour, plus some of the tubing are quite old.

I tried this once and it took me three days! and looked
