Direct X 9C and raeon 9250

My friend has asked for advice on how comes 2 machines with identical CPU's, GFX cards and memory will only let one load direct X 9C on one of them. Every time he tries to load it on his daughters it reverts back to 9b.

I am thinking it may be to do with some previos software on his daughters machine which requires 9b and reverts it automatically.

Any other ideas anyone.

Yip both on same version and update of OS. Still flumoxed at the mo.

But one of them (the one where it won't install) will have probably had some crap on it that hasn't been uninstalled fully which is messing with DirectX.

Can you install another DirectX version, then uninstall it, then try 9.0c?

Do a "repair" of windows which should get rid of any old instances of Direct X.

You can check directX by going: Start>run>dxdiag

Then re-download official MS DirectX 9.0c end-user-runtime

I second this advice. Hopefully that should cure the problem. If not, then maybe a system restore if you know when the problem started on the daughter's computer or full windows re-install as a last option.
