Dilemma: 3770k or 4770k and other...

So the opportunity has arose for me to get a either a 3770k or a 4770k for £100 cheaper than the shops or even anywhere. How? Soon I'll be building my fiance a PC for uni. She'll be doing light gaming and heavy use with Photoshop, illustrator etc. Here's my PC spec as it is:

2500k cooled by a Antec 620
8gb corsair vengeance ram
MSI Z77A GD65 mobo
EVGA 660ti

The rest isn't really relevant

I know that the 2500k is good, great even however when I have the opportunity to get a 3770k or a 4770k I don't know which one to get. My use on the PC consists of heavier use of gaming, very heavy use in programs such as Photoshop, Maya, mudbox, blender etc and so I do a lot of rendering. The hyperthreading will be of use in this circumstance.

I have a decent motherboard and so if I were to go with a 4770k then I'd have to get a new motherboard and more specifically I'd get the same mobo: z87 gd65. This also is a nice option since my case is a cm storm trooper (black) with a window side panel, red led lighting, corsair fans with the red ring. So in theory getting the new mobo which is the gaming series (red theme), 16gb of corsair vengeance (red) ram makes sense to fit in with the whole PC. Currently it's red and blue (mobo) and blue Ram.

What's worth it since if I went for the 3770k I won't have to buy a new mono despite being able to get the z87 for £65 instead of £144.99; an obvious bargain but I don't have all the money in the world for everything. Is the 4770k worth it over the 3770k (forget about the 2500k since I have this one opportunity to get components cheaper).

Sorry for any spelling mistakes

get the 3770k, that mainboard uses an IB chipset. why did you even buy a z77 board for SB in the first place.

I had the 2500k with a p68 to begin with when it first came out, wanted a better mobo later this year and SB mobos had gone. Saw the GD65, wanted to do sli at a later date and also just in case I wanted to upgrade. I got it cheaper than the RRP and so went for it.

A 3770k will serve you fine and you won't have to change mobo. If you care about looks and have the money (65£ for that mobo is a no brainer) then go with 4770k. Don't forget you will have to change the ram too. Since yours is blue and you want red... And you can always sell your old hardware to make up the difference in price.

That is essentially what I am doing, the components I change the fiance is paying for them in her PC build, she'll obviously be getting a few parts cheaper however I'll never be able to shift off several components all at once without being with a PC so that's my 'chance' to get these components cheaper and now. I'm not majorly fussed on looks however it'd be nice for it to all match since I bought the windowed side panel for the CM storm trooper. Ram I was looking at the new Corsair Vengeance in red that is supported for Haswell or if I can't get it since they don't seem to do the 2x8gb sticks many places then I'll get the old vengeance in red. My main question I guess really other than the 10-15% difference between the 3770k and 4770k is there any advantage for the line of work I do and also for the future?

You won't have any problem with old red vengeance ram. My brother has 2x8GB vengeance red 1600Mhz in his pc with a msi z87 g45 gaming and a 4670k. Besides the 10-15% difference in the cpus you won't have any other advantage that I know of. If I'm wrong please somebody correct me. Maybe some software will benefit from a new instruction on the 4770k...
