Dilema! 3870X2. Help me decide!

Coz irl, and not the artificial benchies we have pre-3dmark08/whatever, the x2 wasn`t as good as is suggested or proposed.
Tis a good/great card, but to buy it when it only competes with a single 8800 GTX/Ultra isn`t ideal when u have a 8800GT, that similarly boasts to compete.
So in waiting for a 9800GTX, that, in all honesty, is the only real thing that is going to, without question, come out and beat hands-down a single 8800GTX/Ultra (without nailing urself down to old tech in the shape of a 9800GX2, which "should" be called a 8800GX2 tbh)
U have a 8800GT in one hand, and an x2 in the other that u can get ur cash back on.
U get ur cash back.
I personally wouldn`t get a new GTS, it would be the same as buying an x2 imo. GTX/Ultra is the only thing atm that u can buy and slap in ur case that isn`t going to have u reaching for the bank-card each time a pretender card comes out b4 the 9800GTX.

Speaking of drivers, I`m not sure about the drivers I`m using atm. The 8800GT seems to have been thrown in with a bunch of `unifides` by nVidia, which I`ve always looked at as a bad thing.
(In the sense that if ur card isn`t in the main descriptor, it`s just being "supported" and is listed as such, and not dev`d on to some extent)
I may well be reverting back to the ones I downloaded previously.
8800GTS seems to be their dev flavor atm and probably will be until it goes all 9600GT and so on.

New drivers are already increasing performance on some games by up to 30%.

Since it uses xfire, all single gpu AND x-fire enhancements increase its performance, it'll go up quickly
Not to mention its already on top.

Old thread revival.
Well, I got my X2 replaced and it died!
So, I threw an extra £100 into the situation and got the XFX 9800GX2 which arrives tomorrow. Hopefully the 99gtx won't totally destroy it because it would be nice to keep a card for 6 months or something! Actually, as long as the gx2 can play the games I want to play I'll keep it... Far Cry 2 looks awesome...
