If the driver set is not WHQL when released then it will never be (unless they release the same driver under a new number).
My view on FM and their stand on driver optimisations - I say if you allow all (amd, nvidia etc.._ to fully optimise their driver set-ups then should it really matter? Their answer is yes as a benchmark optimised driver set may be really awful for games and general use - so there has to be some control I suspect.
I remember running benchies on a set of drivers that you could not even see the screen properly yet they proved to be the best benching drivers.
I agree with teh the principal although the execution sux as they only test certain drivers I suspect.
