Designing a Cube case

ATX in a small case for me. I got some of these, and plan to get 4/6 more. They`re silly-cheap and u can stick ur old stuff in it. If u max the memory etc in the process, u end up with a pretty smart pc - that`s small!! (so u can store it ;) )

I`d only use a mATX if it was for a specific client/job.

If that acrylic case does indeed take a 240mm rad (even 360mm) without too much hassle, its WAS to me :p

shame the mountain mods H2GO was so damn expensive - it was perfect for me and probably Tox

And if your REALLY opposed to the see-through case you can always invest in a few cans of spray paint.

Its kinda defeating the point to ask for an ATX cube case. Isnt the point of a cube case for it to be small, compact and portable?

Although, If size doesnt matter, stick together 2 or 3 CM Stackers and youve got yourself one hell of a cube.

I don't think the whole point of a cube is for M-ATX. Cube is a shape.. and thus I want a case for Perfromance ATX parts "to be different" and "For a change".

I once thought about rather than lying the mobo flat or on its side, why not lean it 45degrees on its vertical axis and then make a case to go around it, could place parts on either side of the mobo too allowing for maximum use of space.

Tis just a though, may actually go ahead with it one day.

Basically all we are after (addressing any case builders out there!)

a full atx cube case

small-ish

fully supporting all new hardware

watercoolable

looks good

transportable

AFFORDABLE!

so yeh :) - make my day

That sums it up, but a little bit bigger for me. New space for expansion/work/ideas. :)

Under 80quid would be nice.. no more of this 200quid for a cube shape lark.

See if markk is still around? =O

Thank you WC for that..:wavey:

I am in the middle of designing a few gaming cases for a couple companies and have "Non Compete" contracts going on too. I am designing a special case for Nvision08 that will not have an equal for quite some time.:p

There are many people that request SFF cases that use an ATX mobo (so many more options) and I promise when I get a bit of time Tox I will put something together for you. Start a thread and get everyones opinions on what they want the case to be..

Cheap/High Quality

SFF, Cube,Small Tower (design wise a rectangle is more appealing than a square)

water cooled/air (I have designed some air cooled cases that work pretty close to water)

what kind of hardware(2,3 or 4 gpus?) Hdds, how many, and can you use a laptop DVD or do you need a full size one

I am really slammed for the next few mos.(so I will have no time to maintain a thread) but I will make time for OC3D and this case.

PS: hello everyone:wavey:

Thanks so much Mark! ;)

If a MR admin dude could change the thread name to something like "Designing a Cube case" that would be lovely.

Ill start with my needs. :p

Well, I would love the case to be about to handle cooling top notch hardware, without having to take the sides off in summer(like now).

At the moment I am only running a 9800GX2 which is rather large. I much rather a large case to a small one. As I mentioned above, hardware expansion/new ideas I have.

Deffantly want to be able to water cool with it. I was aiming to put the rad on the bottom shelf of a cube case with decent airflow for high performance cooling. The rad I have here is a 240mm. I wanted to fit a res on the outside or in good view of the outside.

Mark, PM me about costing, actually wait.. ill PM you. :)

Anyone else with ideas for this please go ahead and contribute. :D

Costing is gonna be impossible. Since this case is a prototype the amount of work to build (possibly 20-30 hours) it makes it tooooo much to sell.

Chinese companies stamp cases out for about $2, and they make thousands at a time. Where as cube case makers make a few at a time so thats why cube cases cost so much.

What I will do is see if we can get 2 or 3 people to want this case and as long as materials, supplies and shipping get covered I will build them for OC3D.

Deal! ;)

Well, we already have me and Mrapoc. Just another thought, flatpack it so it is a DIY and that could save shipping.

"Flat pack" is an excellent idea. Shipping from here to there is really not that much.

The trick will be getting those that want the cases to agree on the design. lol

Hi Mark

It's awesome to see you back again and even better knowing what you're doing. Congrats on your recent success too :)

Thread named changed as per Tox's request and thread stuck for the time being to ensure it doesn't disappear :)

I'd love to get hold of one of these. Need to think about price though, my parents dont own credit cards and so it makes it difficult for me to buy things off the internet. Bearing in mind price, I might have to beg my sister to buy me one.

an etched OC3D logo would look sweet :) Measurements coming too Tox for the case's capacity for a GX2 and a 240mm rad, just getting the rugrats interested in the notion of sleep
