Define R4 Optical Bays removal advise/help needed

Hey there guys. I am planning on drilling out the rivets that hold the optical bays in place on my R4 in the next couple of days and replace them with screws so I can remove the bays at my leisure. My plan being to take them out mostly, however if I ever plan on using something that actually needs 5.25" drive bays I can easily slip it back in without too much of a problem)

However I have only just realised (like the dumbass I am) that all the cables from the front panel "hang" over the optical bays on the other side, so when I do remove them, they will be (at least I think so) very visible, as well as possibly dangle and look quite unsightly. Anyone got any idea as to combat this?

I have looked around on the internet but sadly I can't really find any solutions/ideas for this.

Thanks guys.

If they're long enough, I'd say push them between the front fans and the side of the front panel, then along the bottom of the case to behind the motherboard tray.

If they're not long enough to do that, you can buy plastic ziptie mounts with double sided tape, which you could stick on the far top left of the motherboard tray and run them along the top. Could use some sort of masking plate to make them completely invisible.

Great idea. I just hope now the fan controller wires are long enough to go down the side of the front, since those are the ones that really stick out due to not being right at the top.

I think I shall have to experiment...

Thanks!

Could always try a combination of both methods for the seperate bundles of cables.

No problem mate, let me know how it works out :)

Drive cages are now out. Sadly, the wires on both the fan controller AND the custom LED controller strip I put in aren't long enough.

I bought a 5M roll of RGB LED's from ebay and wired them up to the molex ;) saved myself a pretty penny compared to buying "PC modding LED strips" or whatever they are called :P, not to mention they change colour with the SAME REMOTE that my LED bulb in the roof does, such a great effect. Currently got the sensor in the front panel so I can change the colours from the sides at most angles

Going to have to extend the wires on all the fans and unsolder the power jack from the controller board and extend that with some wires me thinks. Hopefully then I can make it all high behind the motherboard tray, cause right now it looks like this.... Quite bad :V

Obviously when the drive cages were there they were all hidden behind them hehe.

Bitfenix sells sleeved extensions for internal USB2, Audio and 2Pin chassis (PWR/RST/HDD/Etc.).

Don't know where you can buy these, so you'll need to look around a bit.
