"d00D" Corsair 900D Reverse

The radiators were delivered back last week after the modifications to the end pieces.

Aquacomputer have been excellent with the recall of the radiators to be honest, I had very good one on one email contact with their guy Sven and he kept me up to date with everything.

The return postage, a not inconsiderable amount of £48.00, was refunded the moment they had the proof of postage, no quibbles. The first quote I had was over £125.00 but I gave that a miss! My local Post Office came good and delivered them from a remote part of the UK to Germany in 2 days.

While the rads were out it has given me a chance to give the lower chamber a good clean. Its surprising how much debris had accumulated down there so taking the rads out, although very tiresome, has had a benefit.

I have also got all the pipes bent for the motherboard and also got the 24 pin cable and all 4 of the GPU cables cut to length and the PSU end terminals fitted.

That sounds like pretty awesome service. Especially considering it was THEM that let you know about the defect. Bright side: at least you didn't have to learn about that from another source, after you had everything built. :) I've tried lots of rads but avoided those due to their performance not being up to snuff with the big boys. Hopefully the recall will put them on par with their competitors.

It was pretty awesome service Bart' I don't know how many they have had to recall but it must be costing them a few quid. I really admire their honesty with the whole thing, even if it has set me back a few weeks.

I'm not so sure the rads will ever get up to the same performance as Monsta's or similar because of their different design, the way the water flows in those tubes. I went with these Radical "4" versions because of their thickness, I reckoned that with the extra tubes they should be a lot closer to normal design rads. I also think they look so dam good it would have been rude not to use them...................:D

I haven't had much time to work on DOOD this week, I bought a Surface Pro 4 and I have been spending a lot of time getting it to run nice. Worth the hassle with the Dock and settings though its an amazing bit of kit, running 3 screens but I digress.

The top rad and fans re-fitting was something I was not looking forward to again but I got it done tonight and also got the rear chamber finished with the 8 RGB LEDs now fitted to the splitter.

One last pipe to make and then I can leak test it ...................again.......... and then I may well be on the home straight.

Got the loops both filled with Mayhems XT-1 clear, it has made the pipes really sparkle. I had to rig up a few pipe fittings to get liquid into the reservoir of the CPU loop but it went quite well.

Windows 10 Pro installed really easily onto the SM951 M.2 SSD, a lot easier than it was getting Windows 7 Pro onto the same drive a few months ago.

I have had one big problem with the Aqua-computer stuff, its all USB connected through a NZXT hub but it looks like the hub is faulty, anything connected to it causes error messages. I have double checked the cables, I made all of them but they are ok so I ran a temp cable from the mobo to the Aquero so that I could stop the fans running at full speed.

Talking of full speed fans I am very impressed at how quiet the radiators are, with the fans on full blast the noise generated by the air passing through the fins was really quiet in comparison to the other rads I have.

2 of the RGB LEDs on the XSPC water blocks have something wrong with them. They didn't light up the same colour as the rest, I thought it was just a wrong way round wire fault but I tried all the permutations of the 3 coloured wires and nothing so I am in the process of making up some new ones to replace these ones.

A little update, just waiting on the acrylic panel being cut for the front of the case and she will be pretty much done.

I got a couple of those umbrella type lights for Christmas which I will use to take some better final pictures when everything is done.

The M.2 C drive and the Raid 0 D drive have pretty good read and write speeds which should be good for my sons gaming.

I tried stressing the graphics cards by playing the Nvidia "head" demo for about half an hour, the hottest the primary card got was 47 degrees with the fans on a basic 30% power setting.

I am still very impressed by how quiet the radiators are, as I said before even when the fans are on 100% they are not that annoying/ loud.

I don't know if these 75mm thick Radical 4 rads have been properly tested against other rads yet but they seem pretty good, especially for the little noise generated.

It doesn't show properly on the pictures but the waterfall effect from the middle discharge of the reservoirs looks really smart and generates a few bubbles which makes the reservoirs a bit more interesting than normal. (The bubbles are stopped from getting into the loop by the baffle plate in the bottom of the reservoir)

looks fantastic, you should be proud.

where can you get RGB LEDs for the XSPC waterblocks? I have an idea for a Star Wars build that I Want to make RGB lightsabers for.

Looks awesome Blade! on the RGB LED question too! I know you can easily find 5mm RGB LEDs on eBay, but I'd be curious to know exactly where you got yours.

Thanks WYP :), I don't think you can get 3mm RGB LEDs, I drilled new 5mm holes for the RGB LEDs

If you try this just beware, its very easy to shatter the acrylic, as I did on a RAM block :( don't try and enlarge the existing 3mm hole, drill a new one.

Thanks again Bart, the LEDs were bought on ebay from a seller called yadamal but I just checked and they have nothing for sale at the moment.

They were not anything special, just 5mm common anode clear RGBs which I used 470 Ohm resistors on. This was for using them powered by a Farbwerk, I'm not sure if you need common cathode or common anode for other controllers.

Some interior pictures taken today, she has now been moved into my sons room where he is getting it setup to his liking.

Early reports say it is running his 4K screen really sweet.

When he has it all connected up to his screens and his desk tidied up! I will take the final exterior pics and some night shots to show off the full RGB lighting effects.

Finally got his room tidied! So here are the final pics of DOOD in its home.

P.S. I really have got the modding bug; I need a second work PC, something a bit more portable than my STH10! :D So I took the plunge and have an Asus X99-M WS on order.......watch this space.

Why is this log only showing up now. Went through everything and i have to say you do a good job. Perfection takes time and damn u near perfect if not perfect. Good job well done and you need to show off that build.

With cooler coolant it would stand out more and look cooler. Love the rgb leds.
Nice clean build. Good job

oooh while I do love this build, I hope the lighting is just for the pictures. That is a lot of blue in my face if i had to sit at my desk.

On that note, I need to get back to mine and actually finish it properly :)

Thanks dude :-)

Great work :) Some decent talent you've got there!

Thank you too.

My sons rig so he sets it how he wants it, it was yellow for a few days after the pictures and today it is all red!

Yes red! The colour that all the blocks come with as standard and what I spent ages covering up on the motherboard, I dunno why I bother sometimes :-) ..........................

Outstanding !!!

Cheers man.

Awesome build! Good job!

I have some questions for you if you don't mind answering them i am interested as well in the Aquacomputer Airplex Radical 4 480 rad. Main reason its clean inside no flux or any of that crap however there are mixed reviews some say it performs well while others state its mediocore but that was for the radical 2...

How is your experience with this rad are you happy with it? I presume it cools your cpu and 2x gpu correct? Could you post your temps of your cpu while idle and full load (100%) and also for your gpu's while idle and heavy load (gaming? And what your room tempreture is?

I had my share of dirty rads....this one seems to be the solution but i don't want to skimp to much on cooling...So your feedback is very much appreciated.

The temps when I built it were good, if I remember correctly. Its my sons PC and he is in the middle of his AS level exams at the moment so I cant really ask him to bench it but I will do after he has finished at the end of the month if you wish.

I don't think the Radicals can ever cool as well as "normal" thick rads due to their design and the way the water flows but its not a huge difference and they are very quiet even with the fans on full speed due to the fin spacing/ design.

Hi

Thanks for the reply,

Yes by all means pls bench it i will wait till your son is done with his exams. Or just post a reminder when the time is right.

And btw i wish him all the best in his exams hopefully he will succeed!
