Custom cooled GTX 1080 spotted

Looks just as "nice" as the old 290x stock cooler. And like the 290x cooler, it doesn't look like it belongs on a high end card. I'll mark that down as a FAIL I think.

Nobody should buy a card without a full backplate if you wanna use a dedicated soundcard otherwise you're just asking for major EMI.

Or... you should buy a soundcard decent enough to have it's own EMI shielding, like most of the decent ones have now...

This will be good for watercoolers as I'm guessing this will be the cheap version due to having a bit of a poo cooler.

I can't help but think of beanz.

Please excuse the poor photoshop!

Well if it's cheaper than most due to the cooler, then I can see why it would be a good option for people who are planning on watercooling.

My Xonar has EMI shielding and I still get it to the point where now I am back using onboard sound. Also there's a big thread on EVGA forums about problems with creative soundcards too.

Soundcards aren't really the best when it comes to EMI shielding hence it's generally better to go external.

Or go external to avoid EMI all together! :)

That would be lovely and true if it weren't for USB being abhorrently bad at picking up EMI.

My Xonar is sat between two 780's and doesn't have any EMI issues at all..

Not surprised with Creative, their X-Fi's were quite good for not picking up EMI, not perfect though. I think the Audigy was best for EMI shielding

Tbh it seems to be the GTX 900 series that most of the complaints are about maybe something to do with Maxwell I dunno but the common denominator is usually cards without proper backplates too. I'd go for a USB dac or whatever but that just adds more desk clutter. I hope the 1000 series isn't as bad though I'm still fairly happy with my 960 minus my soundcard. :(

I could not agree more. The DA/AD converters on my Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 are great. I much prefer external studio interfaces than any internal sound card
