Curious about Rads....

Hi all. I was curious about something. Has anyone ever done a comparison on Rads. What I'm looking for is something along these lines. The other equipment (pumps, res and tubing) would be the same.

1. Comparison for 240mm Rads in a group that are all thick Rads.
2. Same but for thinner rads.
3. Comparison between the 2 types against each other.

If this has already been done could someone point me in the right direction.
Thank you!

In theory you could work out just by dividing the results by 3 then multiply by 2 as the 360 and 240 versions are built the same except for size

Not true at all really.
For one, there's nothing saying the rads are being pushed to their limits. For example, putting a stock 3570k on a thin 240mm rad will get a very similar temperature to the same on a thick 360mm rad. In these tests, you can't really scale down as what's fine on a 360mm rad may be well over the capacity of a 240mm.

Also, don't forget that they're double pass radiators, so in a 360mm rad, the coolant actually runs through the rad a total of 720mm from the inlet to the outlet.

You're overthinking this really. You don't need a massive radiator comparison to know what to buy really. They'll roughly all perform within a few degrees of each other, and you should always be going slightly overkill with rad space anyway so it won't really even matter at all. Look at Alphacool UT60, XSPC RX series, some of the Phobya ones... You can't really go wrong with any of those.
The Alphacool ones are very good for the price.

And a 240 would be 480 which is 2/3 of 720 maybe I should of worded it as a rough guide rather than theory, But yes I know what you mean by depending on what your cooling in these tests martin is using a 300W heater

Martins comparison between the 360 rads would apply for 240 rads, If you read martins conclusion and findings he says there is an error margin

^^ This I totally agree with
