CrossFlow...The Next Evolution.

ok getting close to being done. I finished the CoolingTube Skeleton. This is the frame that supports the tube and fan

Good job! How do you get the perspex/plex exactly right?

To be honest I dont know how I do half the stuff I do, LOL...

Basically Ham I just heat up the plastic and bend it over whatever shape I want

I just started working with plastic and I really like it. No painting involved:D

To bend it i just use a heat gun (looks like a hair dryer) it heats up the plastic than it is so flexable. I just bend it over a block of wood.

Cool thing about the plastic is lets say you bent it wrong, you just reheat it and bend it again..Pretty easy.

After this contest I am gonna take a break and I will put together some How-Tos on what I have learned.

May I ask what it is you are using you cut your holes in the plexi? Last project I did with plexi I had severe cracking problems when drilling the fan screw holes around the center fan hole and such.

And damn dude, that is so awesome looking, I hope you win!!

Thanks Frag I hope I win too.

To cut the plexi I am using the simple Dremel tool for circles. I went to HomeDepot today to get a 4 1/2" hole saw and they were $35 (too much for me)

And as far as drilling holes you need to use SHARP bits. And Very LITTLE pressure.

If you use a old bit you need to push too hard and it causes cracks (I think from the shock)

Thx for the advice mate, I might try and whip up some small plexi addons for my new case. I'd really like to get an 80mm fan placed over the RAM area and maybe something over the northbridge.

wow cant believe i missed this thread somehow..

truely awesome project, thought it has to be finished by yesterday tho?

My thought with this comp is Quiet, Performance and Excellent cooling first.

What I did was take the hardware and put it together in a effecient way than make a case around it. On this mod you will notice a few good ideas,

First the cooling tube. It ducts all the air to the chipset and video cards. Its very quiet and blows a lot of air (90CFM) Also because the air only has to travel 10" through the case its Much more effecient.

Second the PS below the mobo. This keeps the heat from the PS away from the electronics. It also allows wiring to be MUCH shorter (the 24 pin power is like 8" long)

Third a full size ATX case can easily fit into a Qpack size case allowing much more options for hardware. I have very little money and NO access to fancy tools (drill press, water jet, Laser etching, etc) So this build can be done by ANYONE. I used parts from old comps and stuff laying about the house.

I already have a handful of new ideas to make it better. And thanks all for the nice comments.
