Crossfiring 7950 and 7970

After reading a review of 7950 I decided to crossfire 7950 with my 7970 because I know that a 5850 and 5870 can be crossfired.

Is there any reason why not to crossfire these 2 cards?

Also in future I'm considering watercooling about 2-3 months from now.

The only real reason not to is you will only be getting 7950 crossfire performance at best.

That and they would be complete overkill.

my best suggestion is always xfire/sli like cards. I go further and will only do exact same cards I.E. from same company and line like if I was to sli my GTX570HD it would be with another GTX570HD not a reference model 570 but thats my niggle on sli/xfire. If your gonna do it do it right

Well I got the cards already as it was wery good price, I currently have 2x 7950 and 1x 7970, might sell the 7970 if bad performance.

my guess is that at stock I'm gettin 7950 crossfire performance?

Overclocking the 7950 to 1050/1500 and I should be closer to 7970 stock crossfire no?

Bah I think the answer is obvious, tri-fire!

Ati traditionally has seen much better results with tri-fire than crossfire because the third card smooths out the micro stutters which can appear pretty badly with 2 cards. Not sure if that problem has been addressed for the 7x series...so go for all three!

Oh and don't bother overclocking until you need to (ie maxing out graphics settings and getting less than 60fps - you don't gain anything and could degrade the card)
