CPU temp Software

I know this is most probably on here somewhere but I'm a bit of a lazy git today and can't be bothered looking.

What is the best free software out there today to test CPU temps as accurately as possible

I wish to try and do a temp comparison with my new Corsair H55 closed loop system with my 8 fan passive setup. x5 120mm, R9 380 built in fan and x2 80mm in side panels

My passive setup usually idles at 26 Degrees and under 100% load max's at 41 Degrees
thats with using Aida64 Extreme but i can't trust the temps as after the latest update my CPU is being recognised as a AMD x4 Athlon 3.2ghz 955 instead of a AMD x4 Phenom 3.2Ghz Black 955. so due to the little problem I no longer trust the software.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Core temp HWinfo etc pretty much all just get the temp from the sensor. Both are fine.

Real Temp works but it's only does Temp i think maybe good to run both at the same time.

MSI Afterburner is ok if you have it installed for GPU overclocking.

My results

After running a 10 minute stress test with the before/after.

Previous results with Aida64 Extreme Passive Cooling

• Idle settled at 26 Degrees.
• Max load Settled at 41 Degrees.

New Results with HWMonitor Closed Loop Corsair H55

• Idle settled at 24 Degrees.
• Max load settled at 34 Degrees.

the Idle temp as you can see there is not much difference only 2 Degrees but under max load 7 Degrees difference, Which I think is a big difference.

thanks as far as I know my bios is up to date the last update release was the beginning of last year.

for amd cpu monitoring you need to be using AMDs overdrive but ise it only to monitor.
AMD works differently to intel and measures thermal threshold so what your seeing is however many degress you are from that threshold.
I used core temp and hw monitor alone and was concerned about my temps initially as they reported wierd things for example as i type this right now at idle on watercool
core temp shows 51 to 57 on all 4 cores
hw monitor shows 32c on the socket with 50 on the package
afterburner shows 4c and its been highest at some point today 25c

Indeed, AMD use an algorithm to monitor their dies unlike Intel who use thermal sensors. Overdrive is pretty much the only software that accurately monitors their chips, when I had Athlons and the FX-4100 I used to have to set the thermal offset in Open Hardware monitor by -15 to get semi decent readings.

Using HWMonitor but I'll have to look into an alternative for my AMD CPU from what I'm reading here.

just use amd overdrive to monitor cpu temp but bear in mind its thermal threshold not actual temps. Really don't know why amd dont set things up so actual temps can get seen tbh

Always used Real Temp here did use Afterburner for a bit but I always got massive memory leaks with it.
