Cpu parked?

Well, aren't I being demanding today....anywoo

So I'm all installed with my new 3770k and I wanted to see what temperature it was running at.

So I ran cortemps and it only seemed to show 2 cores. Odd I thought, but maybe it's calibrated to my old amd cpu so I downloaded and ran realtemps, which showed the same. So I opened resource monitor and it says that cpu 1 and 3 are "parked". However there does seem to be some activity with them. So I'm a bit confused.

I looked on the internet and the only references I could find to this issue talked about going into the registry and changing things. Surely, that can't possibly be what microsoft had in mind for multicore processors?

power saving mode.. if you are not demanding 4-cylinder power, why pay the price in energy for 1-cylinder work?

i'd bet your getting throtted voltage too with 2-cores sounds like a green thing.

Well I've done a fresh install of windows 7 and that seems to have sorted the problem. I can see all the temps now, and although some of the cores still say parked, they are all active when it matters. 9.3 on cinebench!
